<MILD TRIGGER WARNING, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK>
Minho
We all land safely on the platform of the building, opposite to the one that Sam and Brenda are in.
Jorge lands gracefully, comforting Alex who cries for his mother.
I tear my eyes away from my son, kicking myself for not knowing how to look after a baby when Sam is not around. I revert my gaze to the other building, expecting Sam to glide down, like the angel she is, and fall straight into my arms.
But she doesnt. And the minutes drag on, and there is no sign of Sam or Brenda.
Jorge begins to grow impatient, and the worry become evident on his face. Thomas begins to panic, and Frypan looks ready to cry.
Me too, Fry.
A further ten minutes pass, and all of a sudden, the building explodes.
Chunks of rubble and debris shoot through the sky, and then the fire begins to eat away at what's leftover.
I cry out in agony, rushing fowards to jump into the fire to find Sam. But strong arms drag me backwards, and I thrash like an animal to get away. I am thrown into a car, and I instantly claw at the doors to escape and find my love, but the gladers are crammed in the car and they have already locked the cardoors.
The car starts and we are propelled across the sandy desert, away from where Sam could be laying, alone, dying, in pain...
By now, I am too broken to hold back the tears, and I let them flow freely, sobs wracking my body, as I watch the fire take over the remenants of the building.
I will never forget you, my love.
Sam
We both grasp identical ropes hanging from the ceiling, and swing down them as the rubble cascades down onto us.
In the nick of time, I throw myself forwards before the rubble crushes me, and I lay on the ground, huge coughs wracking my small body.
"Are you okay?" Brenda rasps, as a torch is clicked on, and the area illuminated.
"Yeah, you all good?"
"Mhm." She returns, searching through her bag, and pulling out another torch. "There should be some tunnels down here, help me find them."
She tosses me the torch, and I clamber to my aching feet. We begin to push various boxes and crates, before we finally find what we were looking for.
With Brendas help, we manage to lift the large metal grate off of the entrance to the tunnel, with great effort.
"After you." Brenda jokes, sending me a lopsided smile.
I roll my eyes, grinning sarcastically, and jumping into the dark tunnel.
I turn my torch on and shine it around the graffiti walls of the tunnel. Brenda follows after me, and we start to walk down one of the splitted tunnels, stopping every now and then at the sound of a crank.
We walk and walk, and I begin to get fed up of the damp smell and droplets of water falling onto my head and shoulders.
We reach a splitted section, and I take a random route, expecting Brenda to have followed me. Little did I know, that she hadnt.
I gasp as I register the sight before me; cobwebs of red and black substances merged together, bodies hanging out of it.
A small sound, like the scrurrying of feet break me from the hideous sight, and a mangled rat falls from one of the tunnels connected this main one.
Brenda, who was now beside me, kicks the rat across the floor, letting out a strangled "ew" under her breath.
We sigh, ready to turn around, when one of the bodies' hand reaches out to grab the rat, before shoving the mangled creature into its rotting mouth with a loud crunch.
The creature screeches, and the other bodies begin to move, untangling themselves from the webs of red and black.
"Look out!" Brenda squeals, as a crank stumbles towards us. I dodge its failed attack and turn in the other direction, sprinting, with Brenda in tow, down a bright tunnel.
The monsters give chase, as we race down the short tunnel, before it ends and we are plunged back into the scorching heat of the sun.
We quickly scramble up a pile of rubble, Brenda now in front of me. And I throw a large chunk of staircase at the cranks, taking one down.
Two to go.
Brenda jumps, and then scrambles up a tilted staircase, grasping the handrail to keep upright. I do the same, the cranks snapping at my heels.
We continue to climb, around and around, the top nowhere in sight. A crank suddenly grasps my arm and I swivel around punching it in the face, sending it tumbling down the gap in the stairway. The other crank was nowhere in sight.
As I was about to celebrate, Brenda's hand slips from the railing, and she tumbles straight through a metal door, and onto a glass window.
"Brenda!" I shout, reaching forwards to grasp her hand, but my reaction was delayed.
I slowly, but surely, let go of the railing and fall onto the wall next to the open door Brenda just fell through. I poke my head around the door to see her laying on the sheet of glass, extremely still.
I gasp, quickening my pace down the slope of rubble and debris. Using the strength of my arms, I climb through the doorway and onto a stable chunk of the building's wall, that was overhanging the window Brenda was lying against.
She still hasnt moved, and I begin to worry that she has passed out. So, I hurry down the wall, using chunks that are missing to climb to Brenda.
I am almost near enough to grab her hand, but the sound of footsteps echoes throughout the deafening silence. A flash of hope washes over me as I consider it being the boys, but there is a gurgle, and all hope flies out of the window.
