"Where to now Trico?" I asked looking at my surroundings for any clue to where we need to go. Trico softly growled, turned around, sat down, and stared at a ledge that was just big enough for him to jump onto.
"Thanks Sherlock." I said as I climbed onto Trico and he lept up to the ledge then to another and another to a huge wooden bridge with what looked like metal or steel train tracks. I hopped down and saw that Trico was hesitant to follow me. He was staring at stained glass with a metal frame with an eye in the middle.
To me it looked a little creepy but Trico looked at it was horrifying. I went over to it and it stayed the same as it was when I was next to Trico. It was on rails that led down to a ledge that dropped off into the abiss below us. I grabbed a handle and pushed it along the rails until it had enough momentum to keep rolling then I turned and walked back toward Trico.
I heard wood creaking then a rusty winch wheel that had rope from the glass coiled around it flew from its place and got stuck in a bent up piece of rail. I picked up my pace while looking back then the weight of the falling cart caused the wood to break and the path started to break with me still on it. I sprinted to the end of the path, jumped, and landed onto the main path as the little path collapsed and fell into the darkness below.
Trico came over to me and sniffed around me. I just sighed and kept walking. We came to a turn in the main walkway and below us was another smaller path with another stupid eye thing.
"Wait here bud, I got this." I ran off and there was no path to go on to go down so I had to jump onto the path. I went around the cart, pushed it off, and climbed onto a solid column.
Just like the other one the winch broke and it all started to collapse. When it got close to my pillar I heard rocks and something start crumbling. I peeked over the edge and the rocks started falling from their place and the pillar started to shift.
"Trico!" I shouted and Trico came over and saw what was happening so he crouched down and got ready. I took a deep breath and jumped.
Trico bent over and opened his mouth to catch me, he missed.
"Trico!" I called as the world seemed to slow down.
Then as I closed my eyes and the bridge was out of sight I had a face-full of feathers.
I opened my eyes and Trico had caught me with his tail. Once he saw me on his tail the bridge started to break so Trico back up and started to run toward the end of the bridge leading to a gate with a ladder beside it.
I was almost onto his back when he jumped. I shut my eyes and gripped his feathers tight. There was an impact and Trico struggled to fully stand on the ledge. So I climbed up onto his head and jumped off to see a big log blocked by a small pot. I hurried over to the pot, picked it up, threw it over the edge, and pushed the log over to where Trico could grab it. Once he did and pulled himself up I climbed the ladder which took me to a switch, I pulled it, and I opened the gate.
Trico and I stumbled inside and gazed at the pillars and pathways crumbling and collapsing all around us. Trico gazed above us like something was watching us and I watched as soldiers fell to their doom trying to get over us, attempting to throw spears at us but failing and falling.
"C'mon Trico."
We turned around and headed inside and continued the journey to The Nest.
As we went my mind wandered about the other Trico who was watching us from up above and why it still had armor. It's horns were in tact, unlike my Trico. Maybe it's nothing and I shouldn't worry about it. No, I can't do that it could be a threat! My mind argued with my common sense. It was clear there would be no winner so I shook my head and focused on the task at hand.
We came into a doorway that was surrounded with a cage in the shape of a dome. Blue streaks every now and again surged through the pure sturdy steel bars. There were, what looked like four soldiers in their resting position in little cubby holes on the outside.
Underneath us was a constantly rotating, glowing, blue, prism that was behind even stronger bars.
I turned to Trico and he was growing and hesitant to move forward but he would not move backward either.
Cautiously I hopped down and the soldiers came to life and I tried to escape but one got me. I shouted for Trico and tried to get loose. I finally did and I tried to jump back up to Trico but the ledge was to high.
"Trico! Please help!" I cried as a soldier snatched me.
Trico seemed to snap out of a trance and he jumped down. He swiped the soldier that had me, crushed two, and the last one we zapped with the mirror.
A loud ringing sound echoed through the halls and bounced off the walls making me cover my ears but I soon got adjusted to the sound.
I looked at Trico and his horns were now almost neon blue. His eyes went from their normal black to glowing purple. He started to growl and hiss. He shook his head as if he was fighting off something. He lifted his head up and let out a loud roar. He looked at me and went aggressive.
Trico lunged at me snapping his jaws trying to eat me and swiping his claws. I dodged with luck until it ran out and he knocked me down from a blow of his claw.
I tried to back away but Trico scoped me up in his mouth and swallowed. I was now in the belly of the beast.
