Please read the authors note after the chapter it is very important!!! Thank you!! Enjoy!! 😊
I woke up head throbbing, and something tight around my neck making it hard to breathe. When I opened my eyes fully and they adjusted to the light I saw that I was high in a tree just below where we had fallen through, the thing around my neck was my shirt and it was caught on a tree branch.
I gasped and put my hands between my shirt and my neck, trying to get more air. I looked around frantically for Trico. I finally saw him and the sight brought tears to my eyes.
He was lying under me on the floor in a pile of rubble from the roof. Blood stained his feathers and I could see and hear him taking in and letting out shaky, ragged breaths.
"T-Trico," I called worried. His ear lifted up and soon his head followed. He looked up at me then he stood up, struggling at first to stand. When he looked back up at me again he lowered his one ear that was able to stay upright and howled sadly.
Trico turned his back to me and squatted down and looked up at a pillar which looked very familiar. He jumped up planted all four feet on it but the hind legs slipped and he flapped his wings to help him back up. He turned on the pillar and was now just a little below me and he took one forefoot and tried to reach me.
After trying that he reached over to far and he almost fell off but he kept his balance. His gaze went above me where I couldn't see and he prepped to jump. When he leapt he didn't quiet get a grip on where he was trying to go so he had to quickly jump back onto the pillar.
He tried again but this time he went directly above me and this time he made it. I could hear him moving then a flash of feathers hit me in the face. I brushed it aside and then I realized what it was. It was his tail. I grabbed it then he jerked his tail which broke the branch and I could safely climb up his tail and onto his back.
Once he saw me on his back Trico jumped down onto the other pillar and glanced down at the ground. I peeked over his side and looked at the ground but saw nothing. I pointed up above us to the opening we made on the way down.
Trico prepped, jumped up, turned around, and jumped up once more onto the roof of the building. He looked around and so did I we were both unable to see where to go. I jumped off his back, looked around, got back on his back and looked around again. Finally I was able to see a small piece of the wall that was sticking out.
After I pointed it out to Trico he went over to it and lined himself up then jumped up to it. When we were up there he was already getting ready to jump again so I hung on tight. He jumped up onto another piece of the wall then stopped with his eyes lighting up and growling.
To the right were two soldiers with mirror sheilds in their hands. In front of us and lower to the left was a pillar in the shape of a semi circle. Beams of wood were under the lip of the pillar three high that I could grab onto and pull myself up. I moved down Trico's back near his hind end and climbed onto his tail and went down to the very end of it. I dropped down to a narrow stretch of stone that had a steep slope leading down to a drop off into the seemingly bottomless pit. I balanced on the path and walked toward the pillar. When I got lined up with it I took some deep breaths then I leapt over to it. Before I got to it I started to drop. I had no run up the path was to narrow. I fell onto the slope and started sliding down, down, down, accelerating in the process. I opened my eyes and saw the pillar approaching quickly so I got somewhat of balance and before I fell off the edge I pushed off the ground with my feet and reached out to the pillar but fell short. Luckily, I grabbed the beam of wood under the lip of the pillar. I pulled myself up and looked up at Trico who was completely focused on the soldiers.
I had to go to the right along another narrow path under the doorway that the soldiers were standing on. I took a left where a gap was between me and another wall with rusty bars of metal leading up to, two large windows with no glass covered in vines were.
When I got up onto the window pane I looked in to the left and right to see a soldier on both sides. Also on the left was a staircase that went back to the two soldiers with the shields.
I jumped down inside the building and the two soldiers activated and chased after me. I slid under the soldier to the left and closest to the staircase. Running up the stairs, the soldiers kept on my tail and when I got to the top another soldier from the opposite side of the room came up the staircase too.
I ran quickly to the soldiers with the shields. I rammed one with my shoulder causing it to drop the shield. The other one paid no attention to me but as I was getting ready to go after the other one, another soldier from behind grabbed me and started to carry me off toward a blue door.
I squirmed in it's grasp trying to get free. It was no use the other soldiers summoned blue symbols from their hands which made contact with me and made me weak. But, I managed to gather enough energy to let out one last call out to Trico for help. After I called I could feel the darkness overcoming me. Knowing that Trico would not heed my call from his fears. Just as we got in front of the door a loud crash of metal and glass came from behind us.
I opened one eye before I was dropped onto the stone below. All I could make out was a gray blur with large horns glowing blue, and eyes red. Muffled roars and whimpers also sounded. That was all I heard before I gave in to the darkness.
