Beth couldn't sleep much that night. Mac had decided that sleeping on the couch was better than being in bed with her, and she couldn't blame him. She had been bitchy to him. She wanted to apologize, but right now her mind was on a much bigger matter.

Was she pregnant with Mac's baby?

She wanted children, yes, and Mac was ok. But would Mac want the baby? He had said so when he was drunk and high, but would those thoughts remain with him sober? She swallowed thickly and felt her stomach churning. Was that the baby? Or just her thoughts? She didn't know anymore. She needed to tell Mac about her suspicions, but maybe she should wait a bit. He seemed pretty pissed as he went to bed, and he'd probably still be upset the next day, so Beth decided to just wait a few days.

And with that, she fell into a stressed slumber.

Mac woke up the next morning pretty early, considering everything. It was actually 8 when he got up, which surprised him. But when he sat up, his back popped and cracked, making him groan. He'd need to apologize to Beth so that he could sleep in bed that night. The couch did not suit him.

He made himself breakfast, and even made Beth a few eggs and toast. Then he got a text from Luke.

Luke: hey man we need you at the lab

Mac: Why?

Luke: new guy fucked up a batch and we need one by tomorrow

Mac rolled his eyes. Peter was new and ok, but he absolutely sucked at cooking. Plus Mike's girlfriend got pregnant, so he needed to stay home more to help her. Mac couldn't help but wonder what would happen if Beth got pregnant. He had no doubt that she'd make a great mother, but would he make a good father? He may not look like it, but he could tolerate children to a certain point. But would Beth want kids with him? He glanced down the hall towards their bedroom, listening to Beth's soft snores. They could probably squeeze enough room for a kid somewhere in this house, maybe his half brother could come over and help build an extra room. Should he talk to Beth about it? He glanced around the living room, imagining a little baby swing sitting in the corner of the room, swinging a child back and forth with Beth cooing at it while Mac relaxed on the couch. He bit his lip a little, a hint of a smile on his lips at the image. Maybe they should try to have a kid. And who knows? Beth was out of birth control, and they'd had sex yesterday. Maybe she was already pregnant.

With that little happy thought in his head, he wrapped Beth's breakfast up and set it on the counter and then he headed out, running an imaginary conversation with Beth through his mind.
