Mac stormed into the Luna Mesa, still pissed and hurt about what had happened at home. Beth had killed his baby...

Mac plopped down at the bar and sighed, just needing to get drunk and to take his mind off of everything. How would he face Beth at home? After he'd lied like that, he knew she'd hate him. Should he apologize? No, she had probably cheated on him and then gotten rid of the baby. But they why would she be so broken up about it?

"Walt! Need a beer over here!" Mac called, raising his hand slightly. Walter headed over to him, a bottle of Mac's favorite in his hand.

"I'm sorry. I can't imagine what you're going through." Walter murmured gently, setting the bottle down in front of him.

Mac scoffed. "Whatever. Yer lucky no one's cheated on ya." He muttered, popping the cap off and taking a few heavy gulps. He just wanted to forget tonight.

"Cheated? What the hell are you talking about?" Walter demanded, staring at Mac in confusion.

Mac scoffed again. "Beth cheated on me an' then aborted the baby." He muttered, drinking more of the whiskey.

Walter's eyes widened, and before Mac knew it, the bottle was snatched out of his hands. "Hey!"

"What exactly did you say to her?" Walter demanded, leaning in close to Mac.

Mac glared at Walter. "Nothin'."

"Mac, what did you say to her?"

"Nothin'!" Mac roared, about to get up when Walter's hands grabbed his shirt collar and shoved him back into his seat.

"Mac, she had a miscarriage. As in she lost the baby and couldn't have done anything about it!" He snapped, urging Mac to believe him. He knew his son, and also knew that when Mac was pissed he'd say things...

Mac was silent. Then he whispered "A miscarriage?"

"Yes." Walter stated, pulling away from Mac.

Mac groaned and buried his face into his hands, feeling like shit. Now he had to apologize. Beth hadn't cheated, she hadn't aborted the baby; she lost it. He should've helped more. He shouldn't have gotten pissed at that. He should've held her while she cried, should've let her explain, should've cared...

"What did you say to her?" Walter repeated, though this time his voice was softer.

"I told her that I fucked someone else." He mumbled. "And that the girl was probably pregnant and wouldn't kill the kid."

Mac received a harsh slap on the back of the head, causing his forehead to slam against the bar. "You're a dumbass." Walter muttered. "Now go home and apologize to her, assuming she's still there."

"She is. She ain't got anywhere else to go." Mac mumbled, standing up and turning around.

"Go get her some presents. Like flowers or something. Something to show that you care." Walter called, and Mac just nodded. He needed to get home so he could hold her.

On the way home he stopped by a florist and picked up a few dozen yellow roses, which he knew were Beth's favorite. With his car stinking of the flowers odor, he pulled up to the house and found all of the lights off. Berth was probably in their bedroom sleeping, not wanting anything to do with him. He'd fucked up big time. What the hell could he say that would make this better? That he was sorry? Yeah right. 'Sorry' couldn't fix a broken window. This would take a lot of time.

He gathered the roses and headed inside, trying his best to be quiet. The house was dead silent. He set the roses on the counter, finding some condiments laying on there too. He opened the microwave and found a plate of burgers. He sighed, knowing that Beth had prepared them even though he didn't deserve them. She was too good to him. He was horrible and didn't deserve her. He took the plate out, finding that it was still warm. Beth must've made them before going to bed. He sighed and set them down, grabbing a single rose and heading down to the bedroom, already having an idea of what he was going to say.
