Beth woke up in pain. Searing hot pain cramping in her abdomen. She whined softly, curling her legs slightly but gasping at the overwhelming fire sweeping her.

"Mac!" She called, clutching at her sheets in horrible pain. "Mac please!"

She looked around the room, listening desperately for Mac's footsteps to come down the hall. "Mac please! Help me!" She screamed, breathing heavily as her abdomen clenched and squeezed, and she felt hot blood running between her legs. Her eyes widened with horror and fear.

The baby!

Beth had to do something quickly, or else it'd die! She sat up, gasping and whining at the pain. She swung her legs off of the bed and stood up, hunched over as her stomach did flips. She shuffled down the hall, not even bothering to look at the bed, and quickly out into the living room. Just as she got to the living room, there was a knock at the door. She didn't care who it was, even if it was the police. She had to save the baby before it was too late.

She swung the door open and fell forward, pain piecing her as she fell into a set of strong arms. "M-Mac?" She whispered, sweat running down her face.

"Beth? Whys wrong?" Walter asked, sounding concerned. Beth felt relieved that it was Walter, but she still needed to get to a hospital.

"H-hospital. Please." She begged, clutching her stomach in pain.

"Ok ok, Beth just stay with me, ok?" Walter murmured, leaning down and lifted her up, carrying her out to his black jeep. Beth struggled to keep her eyes open as the pain lessened to a low throbbing. She held onto her stomach as Walter sped down the high way, being over the speed limit by about 20 miles. Beth focused on breathing, trying to keep her mind off of the pain in her abdomen or the blood leaking onto Walter's car seats. She felt bad about that, but she couldn't exactly help it either. She breathed in and out through her nostrils heavily, biting her bottom lip to keep from groaning in pain.

After what seemed like hours and hours of driving, Walter pulled into a hospital. He killed the engine before pulling her out of the truck and carrying her towards the emergency room.

"S-sorry about the mess," Beth mumbled.

"It's fine." Walter muttered, pushing the door open. As soon as he did, several nurses were looking in their direction. "Please, help my daughter-in-law." Walter pleaded, sounding distressed.

"Of course. What's her name? A nurse asked, just as Beth felt herself getting lowered onto a gurney.

"Sarah Rodriguez." Walter responded, and she felt herself getting wheeled around. Bright white lights were filling her vision, and the sharp smell of medicine filled her nose. They went through a few doors while Beth focused on breathing.

"Ok, Sarah? Sarah can you hear me?" A nurse asked, and a soft, gloved hand grabbed hers. Beth nodded weakly. "I need to ask you a few questions, alright?" Beth nodded again. "Ok, were you expecting a child?"

Beth felt tears welling in her eyes. Were? As in, used to? Could the nurse already tell if the baby was dead?

"Please, save my baby," Beth pleaded, tears running down her cheeks.

"Ok, Sarah, we'll try our best. How far along are you?" The nurse asked, just as Beth felt herself stopping in a room. She felt a few hands grabbing her arms, and more peeling her clothes away. Beth couldn't care less though, as she felt exhaustion coming over her. "Hey, Sarah, stay with me hon. You need to be strong if you want this baby to have a chance." The nurse instructed. "Now how far along are you in the pregnancy?"

"A-about th-three weeks." Beth whispered, feeling an IV being injected into her left arm. She winced slightly, not liking needles in he slightest.

"Ok, now Sarah, we're giving you a sedative so that it'll help you sleep while we check on the baby. It should start in about three, two, one..."

Blackness.

Beth woke up some time later feeling...off. She wasn't in pain anymore, so that was a start. She heard the beeping of a heart monitor nearby, and the sharp scent of rubbing alcohol hit her nose. She opened her eyes, and was immediately assaulted by the light. She groaned in pain and tried moving her arm, but felt the IV sticking in it. She inwardly shivered at the feeling before opening her eyes again, this time able to pick up conversation. It wasn't clear, but she could definitely hear people talking.

"...Sarah appeared to be under stress, and that's what had cause it."

"So it's gone?"

"I'm afraid so. Do you want me to break the news?"

Beth's eyes finally found the source of the noise and saw a doctor and Walter standing near her bed, facing Beth. "Glad to see that you're awake, Sarah." The doctor said, smiling sweetly at her.

"Wh-what's goin' on?" Beth mumbled drowsily.

"Sarah, I'm afraid that I need to break something to you," the doctor sighed, sitting down next to Beth with a sorrowful look in his eyes. "It appears that your baby didn't make it. We're sorry."

Beth's eyes narrowed in confusion for a bit. Baby? Was she still under the influence of the morphine? And who was this 'Sarah' person? Did Sarah lose her baby? So why were they telling Beth-

Then it hit her. It hit her like the Titanic. Tears welled up in her eyes at the realization.

"You had a miscarriage."
