Second hour went by fast because Beth and I sat in the back and whispered the whole time. Beth told me that her relationship with Noah was far more serious than I thought it was, and that the little scene in the hallway was nothing compared to what they had done over the summer.
Since football season was coming soon she asked me if I wanted to come to the first game with her. I said that I would love to and that I was looking forward to our coffee date today after school.
Third hour went by slowly and by the end I was ready to tear my hair out. Lunch couldn't have come sooner.
First day of school and I already wanted out.
When I came out Beth was waiting for me by the door, we walked down to the cafeteria together and got into line. Well Beth went into the pasta line and I went to the salad bar.
Beth was graced with a high metabolism, she got to eat whatever she wanted. When I used to go to McDonald's Beth would come too. But here's the catch, we would get the exact same thing! It wasn't fair.
After we finished paying we walked out into the lunch room to find a place to sit.
The place was packed. We found an empty table together and people watched for a little while.
A couple people came to sit by us and gradually more started coming too, pretty soon our table was almost full. I started conversations with multiple people and started to get to know them.
Talking with all these people made me realize how much I missed socializing with people my own age. Over the summer, the only people I talked to were my parents and other distant relatives.
"Hey man what's up?"
My head snapped up at the sound of his voice, oh great. There was Josh, couldn't he just go away? He was at the other end of the table with some of his friends and I didn't think he had seen me yet. At least I hope he didn't see me.
As lunch went on I forgot he was there, I chatted with my newly made friends, oblivious to the fact that he had seen me as soon as I looked away, and had been staring at me ever since.
When lunch ended Beth and I went to our next hour and stared blankly at the clock until it ended, then we ran off to fifth hour where we did the exact same thing. After sixth hour and seventh hour school was finally over. I said goodbye to Beth and told her I would text her when I was on my way to meet her around 5.
In the hallway I heard someone yell my name I turned around and, oh great it was Josh. I started walking faster and faster I didn't know where I was going but I just didn't want to talk to him.
I walked right out of the school, good thing I wore my converse. I looked back and guess what, the bastard was still following me now running.
I broke into a sprint and ran towards the football field, I hit the turf and started to run through the field. About half way through something slammed into me and knocked me off my feet. Then he proceeded to straddle me and pinned my arms down.
I fought with all my might but he wouldn't get off.
"You're feisty," he laughed, dodging one of my blows.
"You're annoying," I retorted, narrowing my eyes.
"Good one," he said in a sarcastic voice.
My whole body hurt from being body slammed.
"Holy shit you got fast," I groaned.
He chuckled.
I looked into his chocolate brown eyes smiled, I had a plan.
He smiled back, and eased his grip a little bit.
I took the opportunity and head butted him. He let go of me and grabbed his head, I did too. Great now I had a headache, that probably wasn't my best plan.
"What the hell was that for!" Josh yelled, clearly in pain.
I wasn't listening, I got to my feet and stumbled across the field. Everything was spinning, so it was hard to run in a straight line.
I heard him get up also, no I wasn't going to let him catch me this time.
I sprinted as fast as I could across the rest of the field and hit the last grass stretch before the parking lot.
Slam!
"Damn you." I muttered, my whole body ached.
Now he was mad. "Just let me fucking talk to you!"
I was stunned, jeez he was angry. I nodded and let him talk.
"Did I hurt you?." He said concern showing in his voice.
I thought he had to talk to me?
"Obviously." I couldn't breathe every bone in my body ached.
"Shit, I'm sorry."
"You tackled me twice! I think sorry is a little late."
"Let me help you to your car"
What? He wasn't even going to talk to me? This man needs to work out some of his issues.
He got off of me, grabbed my arms and pulled me up. He then put his arm around my waist and proceeded towards the parking lot. My weak attempts to push him away from me did nothing as we got closer to my car.
He brought me right up to the door, I pushed him away and got in my Jeep. He muttered something about being late and left to his car. Not even mentioning whatever it was he needed to talk to me about.
I drove home slowly, thinking about the crazy events of today, what had even happened? Well, Josh came back, I met the cutest guy ever, and Josh practically attacked me today after school. I guess you could say that my first day back at high school was interesting.
God I hate him.
