I had been knocking on his door for over five minutes, waiting for some sign that he was alive.
"Josh if you don't answer I'm going to knock this door over. You have five seconds! One... Two.... Three.... Four.... Five.... Ok you asked for it!" I took a couple of steps back then ran up to the placemat and grabbed the spare key from under it.
I bet you thought I was going to run into the door!
I opened the door and expected to see Josh sitting on the couch, but it was empty, and the house was strangely quiet.
"Josh? Are you here?" I called out.
No answer.
Shit. How could I be so stupid!? Josh went to find Brady.
I backed out of the house and full out sprinted to my car.
I drove as fast as I could without getting pulled over and arrived at Brady's house in ten minutes.
I didn't see Josh's car so I parked a little ways away and pulled out my phone.
I called Josh five times with no answer.
Suddenly my phone rang but it wasn't Josh's number.
"Hello?"
"Mel! It's Josh, I need you."
"Josh!? What happened? Where are you?" I yelled.
"I... I uh. I'm at the police station." He sighed.
"I'm coming right now, we can talk about it when I get there." I snapped.
How could he be such an idiot? Running after Brady like that! I'm just glad it wasn't the morgue that had called me.
I drove like a mad-woman, I'm lucky that I didn't join Josh at the police station.
When I arrived at the station I stormed in and stomped up to the front desk.
"Where's Josh Weatherly?" I said, enunciating each word.
The receptionist looked surprised, then narrowed her eyes.
"Ma'am I would appreciate it if you didn't use that tone of voice with me, he is lucky that if he gets bailed he wont have to come back for a hearing," she said shortly.
"How much is bail?" I sighed.
"Two- Thousand," she said with a small smirk.
I sucked air into my cheeks, and slowly let it out making a whistling noise.
"I'm going to make a quick call," I told the receptionist, then pulled out my phone.
Twenty minutes later my father stormed in.
"I can't believe he is IN JAIL for assault and battery, I am going to pay the bail for him Melissa but once he comes out you are never seeing him ever again, DO... YOU... UNDERSTAND." He stressed.
"Dad that's not fair!" I pleaded.
"Melissa, I don't want to hear it." He said curtly.
I didn't argue because I didn't want to start anything in the police station.
He went to talk to the receptionist, filled out some papers, then firmly took my arm and pulled me out of the police station.
"You are to come straight home, do you understand me? If I don't see your car following me the whole way home you're grounded, got it?"
"Yes," I said hanging my head.
God, he made it sound as though I was the one who went to jail.
On the way home tears streamed down my cheeks, I could only think of Josh. Whenever I was down he always knew how to make me feel better, his smile made my insides melt every time.
How was I supposed to survive without him?
When we got home I ran straight to my room and cried myself to sleep.
The next day I woke up at 5 am and went for a ten mile run, I needed to clear my head, which was still pounding from yesterdays drinking.
After that, I sat in my bed all day and refused to eat.
Around three my mom came in and sat on the end of my bed.
"Melissa, you can't continue to mope all day. You have to get over this boy, he is trouble. Do you even know what he did?" She asked.
"No, but I know that bastard deserved it!" I yelled angrily, tears rising.
"Melissa don't you dare use that tone of voice with me! Josh put that boy in the hospital Melissa, they say he kept kicking and kicking him until he was barely recognizable!" She yelled back.
"MOM I DON'T CARE, I- I LOVE HIM!" I yelled with all my might.
Once the words were out of my mouth, I realized that they were true. I loved Josh, and I wanted to be with him for a long time.
My mom widened her eyes, then her face turned sympathetic.
"I had a love like that once," she whispered.
"Really?"
"Yes," she looked confused, "A long time ago, he was the dream boy. Kind, smart, funny, and handsome oh boy was he handsome."
"What happened?" I asked.
She turned to face me her eyes sad. "Once I lost my virginity to him he left, and never looked back."
"What was his name?"
I saw her lips move to form a name but she said it so quietly I couldn't hear.
"Who?"
"Mike Healey," she whispered.
My eyes widened in shock, that's why he had teased her at dinner. I now realized that he wasn't some genious with magical speaking powers, he was just the bastard who broke her heart. He used her for her virginity and then left her in the dust so he could become successful.
"Oh mom, I'm so sorry, but Josh isn't like that. He is a good guy and would never hurt me like that," I tried to reason.
"Melissa, your father and I have talked about this. You are not going to see Josh again, I'm sorry," she said as she got up to leave.
"I HATE YOU!" I screamed.

I walked into school on Monday with my head held high, I needed to talk to Josh.
I spotted him by his locker and walked over to him.
"Hey babe," I said kissing him on the cheek.
"Hey Mel, I have missed you so much. How come you aren't answering your phone?" He asked.
"Well, I'm actually not supposed to be seeing you. My parents said we can't be together, but here's the thing... I don't care, I'm going to be with you no matter what and I'm not going to let my parents get in the way of that," I vowed.
"What about Hawaii?" He asked.
"We are going, they just won't know. I booked a 4am flight, Sorry about that" I add when I see Josh wince.
"Hey, let's get out of here," Josh said.
"Good idea," I say back.
While everyone was getting migraines at school, I was at the mall, getting mani's and pedi's. Josh watched of course.
I was so ready for Spring Break in two days.
