Josh's POV
I felt terrible that Mel had been sick all week. I didn't care about the trip and that we didn't get to do anything, I only cared about her health.
It's not like we had been sitting inside all week, every once in a while I would carry her outside and we would sit in the lawn chairs. We would talk all day about anything that came to our minds.
Sometimes we ran out of things to say, so we would just sit there in a comfortable silence. Most of the time I would catch myself staring at her, even sick she was still so beautiful.
One day she was laying in bed, having just thrown up the eggs I had made her, and suddenly decided that she wanted to go to the store!
My very first thought was, there is no way she is going to the store she is way to sick. But she had her fragile heart set on it, so of course being the amazing boyfriend I am, I brought her there.
She was in and out within five minutes, I waited for her to tell me what was going on but she just ignored me and stared straight ahead. I figured she would tell me when she was ready to.
When we got home the first thing she did was disappear to the bathroom.
Women.
I made her a small bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup and pulled out my copy of Fifty Shades of Grey. I had a lot of catching up to do.
What can I say, I'm a guy.
She was in there for a long time, and after twenty minutes of waiting I went to check on her.
"Mel, are you ok in there?" I asked, knocking softly on the door.
I heard muffled sniffles, then her gentle reply.
"Yeah I'm ok, just give me a little bit."
I hope she isn't crying, I had never been good at comforting crying girls.
When I broke up with Jenny she had cried, and all I could do was hug her and say that it wasn't her fault.
"Let me know if you need anything," I said.
"Ok."
I went back to my book, but another twenty minutes passed and no still no sign of Mel.
"Mel, come on outta there. Talk to me," I said knocking louder than before.
"No," came her stubborn reply.
"Mel I'm serious, talk to me!" I called.
"I don't know what to say!" She yelled.
"What do you mean?"
She opened the door, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Josh I'm pregnant," she cried.
I sat there dumbfounded. Pregnant? I knew that I wanted to have kids with Mel, but not this young. We still had to set up our futures.
"Are you sure?" I asked slowly.
She gave me a death glare and whipped out four pregnancy tests. Every single one was positive.
I groaned, what were my parents going to say?
"My future is ruined," she said softly.
"No it's not Mel, we will work this out." I said reassuringly.
"You don't understand Josh, I was accepted to Harvard." She whispered
"You were?!" I said incredulously. "Mel that's amazing!"
"Yes, but now all of that is down the toilet like this mornings breakfast," she said bitterly.
I didn't know what to say, So I just pulled her into a hug.
"I will be here for you, I promise." I vowed. "You are still going to college, and I'm not going to let this get in the way of you pursuing your dream."
She just nodded, tears slowly falling.
"I guess I have to call my parents," she said.
I grabbed her phone for her and sat on the chair next to hers.
She dialed the number and waited.
"Hi, mom? It's Mel."
I could hear her mom talking on the other end.
"I know you still aren't happy, and I have something I need to tell you that might just make it worse," she said.
"No don't worry I'm coming home, well actually all three of us are," she said rubbing her belly.
"Mom I'm pregnant," she said slowly.
I could hear the yelling on the other end.
"I can't come home now mom, we can set up a doctors appointment when I get home, please don't hate me." She whispered.
I felt terrible, this is all my fault.
"I love you too," she said, then hung up.
"How did it go?" I asked hesitantly.
"She said we can talk about it when I get home, and to stay healthy for the baby," Mel replied.
I nodded and pulled her into a hug, "I told you it would all work out."
"Aren't you going to call your parents?" she asked looking up at me with her big green eyes.
"They don't need to know, it's probably better if they don't," I muttered.
"Ok, I'm going to bed I've had a long day," she said heading back to the bathroom to take a shower.
"Hey Mel."
"Yeah?" She said turning around.
"I love you."
She smiled and replied "I love you too."
It was right there where I realized that we were going to be ok, and that no matter what I was going to stay by her side. I mean after all she kept my day interesting, she was my crazy love.
