Josh's POV

She was definitely different from middle school, her green eyes were bigger than ever and she must have shrunk at least 6 sizes. She walked into school like a queen, her legs were long and tan and her facial features had thinned out. She was drop dead gorgeous...

I watched her greet her friend Beth, they talked for a while but then Noah came and started sucking on Beth's face. Mel looked really uncomfortable, and after a minute she just left.

"Holy shit." I said like I hadn't been watching her that whole time.

She stared at me, her green eyes on fire. She just kept staring and ten seconds later I was starting to get really uncomfortable.

She must've noticed my awkwardness because she gave shook her head and gave me a death glare

"I don't want to talk to you," She spat.

And with that she stormed away, god her ass was perfect. I watched her walk until I couldn't see her anymore. I sighed and went to first hour.

"Are you new?" A cute blonde asked.

"Well technically no, I just moved back from California," I replied.

"Oh well you're really cute, with a capital really," she said winking.

"Thanks," I chuckled.

"So what's your name 'new kid'," she said holding her fingers up for quotations.

"Josh, and you?" I replied.

"I'm Jenny," she said, twirling a piece of her long blonde hair around her finger. "Call me if you ever want to hook up," she smiled before she turned her attention back to the teacher.

Who is this chick?

After first hour I saw Mel walk out alone, I was just going to go to talk to her when a guy with blue eyes and dark hair tapped her shoulder. I stood there frozen. Who was he? All of a sudden I saw Mel give him a piece of paper with what looked like her number!

"What the hell was that?" I said before I could stop myself. I felt a spark of jealousy.

She glared at me defensively "Why would you care?" She said with a hint of venom in her voice.

"You cant just give random people your number!" I don't know why I felt so protective of her.

"Why would you care!?" she repeated, clearly mad. "You are in no position to tell me what I can and can't do."

Some freshmen walking by stared at us funny, but as soon as I glared at them they scampered away.

What did she mean? For some reason those words hit home, of course I cared. I sort of always had.

For the rest of the classes before lunch I couldn't stop thinking about what she said to me.

When the bell rang for lunch I walked down slowly, what was the rush?

After I paid for my lunch I saw Matthew Campbell at an almost full table, I hurried over so no one would come and take the last seat.

"Hey man" I said.

"Josh? I haven't seen you in forever dude." He obviously had forgotten or didn't care about the rumors that I spread about him and Mel in middle school.

"Yeah I know, hey is this spot taken?"

"No dude its all yours."

"Thanks" I sat down and gazed around the table, I hardly knew any of the faces until I got to the end.

There was Mel, she got more beautiful every time I saw her. I soon became mesmerized and went on to stare at her.

"Hey man are you ok?"

"What? Oh, yeah." How long had I been staring at her?

"What are you looking at? Oh you're staring at Melissa. I don't blame you dude, every guys wish this year is to get in bed with her."

"What?!" I said very surprised.

"Yeah, I mean dude she's hot." He said wiggling his eyebrows.

"What's wrong with you?" I snapped.

"What? Don't people in California talk about getting laid?" He said defensively.

Of course people in California talked about getting laid, that's all they ever talked about. I shuddered at the thought of California, too many bad memories. Too many bad hookups.

"Whatever." I said, angry that Matthew had the nerve to say that.

What was wrong with me? I just need to talk to her and tell her that I was sorry for what I did to her as kids, maybe then she will forgive me.
