Red Skies

chapter 9

Cassandrah's point of view

Darkness consumes me as I drift away into a dark sleep, one that greets me every night- but today it was different because I had Kota sitting next to me. I can't remember what happened, but I know it was something important maybe?

I look at the shaggy haired boy next to me, fast asleep. I couldn't help but smile.

He's different, theres something about him I just cant figure out.

I rub his hair and he stirs sleepily, looking me in the eyes.

He freezes and quickly bounces and looks at my neck, then sighs and smiles laying back down.

"What was that about?" I ask.

"Oh nothing, I was just-" He stopped staring me in the eyes.

"What?" My heart beat quickened. His mouth opened in an O shape, but said nothing.

"Kota, What is it?!" I looked into his eyes, and saw me. My eyes glowing a faint green.

I felt like screaming.

So I did.

I screamed as loud as I could, backing myself to the other side of the bed.

And he just looked at me, Staring at my eyes. He looked terrified.

"What the hell is going on?" My voice shrill enough to peirce metal.

The glow had faded seconds ago, but my heartbeat still bounding.

He seemed to calm but not quit enough.

"im not exactly sure, I , mean, I just-"

"Just what?" I dont know why, but my arm began to grow hotter and hotter, but ignored it. I needed answers.... like... Now.

But alas, there was a long pause. one thats heavily stalked in the air, with a lingering effect.

"Cassie, I need you to come back to my house with me. Please dont fight it."

"Fight what? I dont understand, Kota, whats going on?!"

No matter how much I tried I couldn't calm down.

He got up and cleaned up after himself quickly.

I haven't ever seen anything like it. Kota moved with such grace even though he is male, and in a hurry.

"Come on." He quickly walked passed me, grabbing my arm. His cheeks a rosey color as the rest is now as white as porcelain.

I didn't hesitate because my arm felt on FIRE.

"Wait, Kota, I can't just leave ya know. I have to sign out. "

He pushed open the hospital doors roughly and then turned around looking at me.

"Sign out?"

"Well yeah, don't be a numb nut! When you leave a job-"

"I know that! But really? now?!"

"yeah! You dont just stop because someone tells you to if you do something important!"

"Well what are you waiting for hurry up!" He rushed tapping his side harshly.

I ran to the clipboard, and sighned out, then quickly ran back to him.

we rushed outside.

The burning sensation is followed by a stinging pain. its so hot im begining to taste a metallic taste in my mouth one im not to fond of.

Were running down the sidewalk, well.. more him dragging me along that is.

Im out of breath but he keeps running.

Im feeling dizzy, but he keeps pushing me further along.

I begin to weeze, "Kota, I can't go anymore I just can't-"

A bead of sweat rolling down my face..

He must not of heard me, because we kept going. We neared a building, but im not sure on the detailing because everything is so blurry.

I feel a sensation, one of bubbling on my arm, like lava boiling over, but more painful, like your getting held down and burned alive.

I scream loudly, yanking back.

"It burns!" I yelped trying to shake his grip loose.

"I know, come on!" he rushed.

"No, I cant-"

He swifly picked me up, and not so swiftly flipped me over his shoulder.

I huffed, all the air ridging down my side.

He went inside the house and put me on the bed. (also not verry swiftly may I add. -.- ) And ran into the bathroom.

"Kota?!" I screached showing more pain thn I wanted to.

He popped his head out the door frame.

"Hmm?"

"Time?" I litterally felt like I was dying, burning up.

"5:30 Kainos home, but he wouldnt be much help I called Aba, she'll be here shortly."

"Kay."

A tidal wave of black loomed over me, roaring in, coming at me like a shark its prey, and like that, It swallowed me whole. Temperature rising but I couldent do anything at all. I couldnt move, or speak, just sit there and feel it all happen.

Minutes passed and I felt a cloth rub my face and some thing cold on my head.

Mumbled I hear something, "wheres she?" a womans voice, but hardly recognizable.

A hand slid down my side.

"What happened?"

"Aba, I bit her."
