"Dr. Cutler?" James asked.

"I'M NOT HOME!" James heard through the door.

"Please, sir, I need you!" James yelled into the door.

"THIS IS SIMPLY A VOICE RECORDING, DO NOT THINK I AM HERE." Was the response once more. "Leave a message after the beep. BEEP!"

"Dr. Cutler, it's after the tone." James corrected.

"Fine, boy, you can come in." He opened the door. It was an old guy with glasses. "What do you want?" James entered as Dr. Cutler asked that.

"It's about the bracelets. Before you refuse me, the girl I loved died right before my eyes and then it started counting down again." James explained, holding out his wrist to show Dr. Cutler.

"It's defunctional." Dr. Cutler explained.

"Then all of my friends had defunctional bands." James responded rudely.

"Then there was a bad batch. Get out." Dr. Cutler demanded.

"Why are you such a grumpy old man? What did I ever do to you?" James almost yelled.

"It's more of what I did to you." Dr. Cutler mumbled. "I built a curse when I made these bracelets. You see, love is unconditional, these bracelets limit your mind to their soulmate for you. Every bracelet is defunctional because they aren't accurate, is one of your friends in love with someone who isn't their bracelet match?" James thought of Benny immediately. "I believe in a higher power that chooses love for us all, not a manmade item. I hope you learn from this. Please get out so I can live in the misery I caused myself."

James nodded and left the old man in his house. He knew how he felt, he was feeling it now. James saved money and bought three tickets back, Kelson and Lindsey flew back with him.

They walked off of the airplane, James immediately drove home and left the two love birds alone. He was in his room, unable to do anything, his heart broken, his mind broken. He felt numb. Instead, at five o' clock, he drove to a local bar and started drinking his problems away.
