1. What do you look for in a story?
Kapag oneshot, sa way of telling the story talaga ako napapaattract. Yun bang parang nagkukwento lang yung writer sa isang kaibigan, nakikipagtsismisan baga. Dba pag nakikipagtsismisan in full details dapat at niraramdam, hndi nagmamadali sa pagkukwento ng tsismis? Kaya ayun, mas nai-indulge ako sa pagbabasa ng buong kwento...Tapos mapapa-watdahek pala ako sa ending kasi ninanamnam ko na yung kwento pero yung ending hndi ko in-expect. Haha Or better yet mapapangiti ako sa ending kasi may na-realize yung character na tagos sa puso. Mga ganun, very humane.
2. How are you going to judge the entries?
Like Yin and Yang. I will not let my story preferences overtake my final decisions, of course iko-consider ko rin ang hatak nung kwento sa ibang tao at kung may chance ba yung writer na mag-improve and at the same time survive the competition. Maayos pa naman kasi yung mga technicalities sa kwento pero yung idea sa story, level of creativity na yun ng tao which for me is a show of raw talent. Sana sa grading sheet lang ako magja-judge haha
3. Any advice for the contestants?
Don't be bother by the word "cliche". We are a living proof of that word. Born, live, die... Wake up, eat, school/work, eat, fun, sleep... isnt that cliche? But what makes our time different frm the previous eras is that we look frm the past and innovates it. So just be innovative in your story kahit na ilang beses na nagamit ang kunsepto sa story mo ng iba. At kung sasali man kayo at matanggap sa next round, please huwag biglang mawala sa eksena. Sayang yung posisyon. And write freely. Alam nyo ang gagawin bago nyo isumite ang gawa nyo. So Good luck!
