Chapter 21

Nina's POV

    The trail is about to start and my heart is pounding so fast it feels like it's going to come out of my chest. What if she's found not guilty? What if she breaks out of the chains and try to kill me? What if Ian's feelings turn and he tries to justify with her? All these what if questions running through my minds right now. 

    Her family is here and surprisingly they sat on my side of the courtroom when I walked in her mother hugged me and told me that she was so sorry of how Nikki acted and said that she and the rest of her family were disappointed in her. I didn't know what to say so thanked them and continued walking to the front.

    Ian must have seen how nervous I looked he grabbed my hand and held it in his.

    "Hey stop worrying everything's going to be fine" 

    His thumb starts to draw circles on the back of my hand to sooth me but it's not working my mind is still racing. I look over to my left and see Nikki glaring at me it sends shivers down my spine. My hand starts to shake like crazy. Ian says something but I don't hear, all I can hear are whispers about how Nikki's gonna win.

    "Nina, Nina, Nina" 

    Someone waves their hand in front of my face I snap out of the daze and see Ian he's frowning. Then he gets up and whispers something to his John and then leads me out of the room.

    "Listen to me I know you're nervous but everything will be fine. I don't love her, I love you, ok."

    I nod my head and he kisses my lips it's a quick kiss but I can feel the passion and love in it. We walk back into the room and sit down. Then the Judge walks in everyone stands up then she sits down and everyone else does to (Ok I don't really know how I trial goes so bare with me).

       "Ok so we are hear today on the case that Miss Nikki Reed tried to kill Ms. Dobrev because she thought that Ms. Dobrev and Mr. Somerhalder were having an affair. And that also when Ms. Reed was arrested she escaped and broke in Ms. Dobrev's house and tried to kill her again. Right?" 

    Ian and I nod our heads. 

    "Ok then well have both sides make their statement, first the defendants side will go first, Mrs. May (Nikki's lawyer)."

    "My client would like to speak for herself"

    Nikki stands up the cuffs are tied to the table so she can't escape or do anything. She looks around the room and then her eyes land on mine and Ian's hand that are intwined and she glares at it. Ian squeezed my hand to let me know he's there. 

    "Well I stabbed kill Nina because my husband" Ian stands up "I'm not your husband anymore!" he yells I pull him back down and rub his back the calms down a little bit but not a lot.

     "As I was saying my ex-husband was sleeping with her and they had been texting saying "I love you" and "I miss you" I was hurt of being the second woman. So I asked Ian what was going on and he told me it was none of my business. I kept asking over and over, every time it was the same answer. One night he was texting someone and I decided to see who it was, and it was Nina he was saying that he missed her and that he was going to come over soon. I confronted him and he said that they were just hanging out then he went to bed. But I decided to go and talk to her when I got to her house Nina attacked me for no reason, she was screaming "You need to die so Ian can be mine" and other things. I grabbed the nearest thing which was a knife and stabbed her. It was self defense."

    My eye's widen and jaw drops that is not what the fuck happened. She's lying. Ian tenses up next to me his hand is balled up and he's breathing is loud. Nikki looks over at us and smiles.
