Pippin and Merry

By Boromir of Gondor

Happy little Hobbits
Cheerful, joyous, and gay
I'm glad I died
Defending them

Yet my efforts were wasted
As I saw them
The Orcs
Take Merry and Pippin.

"Aragorn," I plead.
"They took the little ones."
When he promises me
He'll find them
I believe him.

I remember
Fighting in the snow
Playing with the two Hobbits
I begged the stars
To keep them safe

As I lay dying
I know
I would have defended

Those two brave Hobbits.
