Heaven's Choice

By Anodien

I imagined something
I'd never wanted before.
I dreamt of someone
I'd never seen before.

The pitter-patter of little feet
On the forest floor.
Tiny hearts, beating with ours
I wanted nothing more.

When I fell,
My dreams lay dead.
Your heart died with me,
As I came to journey's end.

I saw my dreams reflected
In your eyes of the sea.
Death had to take one of us,
And I'm glad he chose me.

To take your place in Heaven
And give you a chance at life,
Though I had to leave
At the edge of his scythe.

My ending was bitter ,
And though we're apart,
I'll always be with you,
Because I gave you my heart.
