Allissa's Birthday

Today is the perfect day for a party. The sun blazes brightly, the air is crisp and clean, cotton candy clouds decorate the sky like wrapping paper. She couldn't have been born a better day. Reason I say this is because today is Allissa's first birthday.
Driving to Jordan's, I smile thinking about seeing her smiling face and hearing her cheery laughter again. The thought is irresistible. Hearing her coo "I love you, Kurlzz." would be paradise.
"We're here, Matty." Kate's voice sings as I slam on the breaks.
"Oh." I murmur "Thanks."
I step out of the driver's seat, and hold the door for her. She struggles to stand, but I assist her by holding on to her side while walking through the warm, afternoon sunlight.
The door swings open just as my fist taps it, and Jordan stands at the entrance holding Allissa's tiny hand.
"Hey!" He smiles "Come in!"
"Mommy! Kurlzz!" Allissa cheers, toddling into my open arms to hug me.
She's dressed in a sparkly, pink dress with glitter and varied shades of pink jewels covering the front. A yellow badge with balloons drawn around it reads: "Birthday girl". The letters reflect in the sunlight. A silver tiara with pink gems rests in her short, brunette hair. She looks like a Disney princess.
My arms wrap around her like ribbon on a gift. She wraps her arms around my neck, pulling me closer to her. I kiss her forehead and whisper "Happy birthday, sweetie!"
She releases her hands from me. She stumbles towards Kate, almost tripping. Kate catches her, picking her up.
"Hi, sweetheart. Happy birthday!" Kate whispers, kissing Allissa.
We proceed to follow Jordan into his comforting home. The second I enter, I notice so many of my friends deep in discussion with one another. However, the only person I didn't know (but he looked familiar) was a man with blue hair, dragon tattoos, snake bites, and a My Chemical Romance shirt talking to Randi. He looked like a teenage emo kid.
Happiness skipped through Randi's features, laughing at everything he said.
"Hey, Randi." I beam.
"Hey, Matty." Her attention directed towards me.
The emo's head snapped backwards, a small gasp released from him. A pale, red coloring painted his cheeks at his first glance at me.
"Uh, are you ok?" I ask him.
"Oh." He murmurs in a small voice "Y-yeah, I'm fine. How are you?"
"I'm fine, too." I smile as his cheeks redden even more "By the way, I'm Matthew."
"I'm Phil." He smiles in the happiest smile I've ever seen "Nice to meet you."
He shakes my hand, it's a lot smaller and paler than mine. I decided that I liked him, therefore Phil, Randi, and I rang like phones with conversations.
After our chat ends, I notice J-Dog sitting on the couch holding what looks like a bundle of blankets in his tattooed hands. I sit next to him.
"Hey, Jorel."
"Hey, Matt." He smiled peacefully "Sick party huh?"
"Yeah, I hope Allissa enjoys it." I share "What are you holding?"
"My son, Evan." He bent over and kissed the little face poking through the blankets.
"How old is he?" I ask.
"About four months." He continues to hold and kiss Evan, the same way Jordan holds and kisses Allissa.
"Why didn't you and Vanessa tell me about him?" I wonder while Evan opens his eyes that look like Vanessa's.
"She wanted to keep it a secret, but I guess that didn't happen." He chuckles "Say, did you hear that George and Asia got back together?"
"No way!" I respond, shocked.
"Yes, and they're engaged."
"That-That's great!" I gasp, remembering our conversation that one night nearly four months ago. I bet he's ecstatic that he'll be reunited with Ava.
I look around to congratulate him, but he's not here yet. It saddens me.
Danny sits in the empty seat next to Jorel. The scratches and bruises cloaking his face have faded since the divorce case and when I forgave Kate.
"Hey, Kurlzz." He smiles, glancing at Scarlett playing with Jordan's pet husky.
"Hey, Danny." I respond.
"I'm so glad Allissa's having a birthday."
"Yeah, me too." I smile, thinking about her sunny face and the joy she bestows upon everyone, especially Jordan.
"You know, I knew Allissa was Jordan's kid before she was even born. He asked me to keep it a secret from everyone, and to support him, Kate, and their child...It was a tough burden to carry."
"Why would he trust you over Johnny?" I ask, knowing that Charlie would trust Johnny with his life.
"Well, Johnny can't keep a secret. So, maybe that's why." Jorel interjects, stroking Evan's head.
"I'm mainly glad Allissa is here now. Kate was persistent on getting an abortion. Everyday, I persuaded her to keep Allissa, or she'd regret it for the rest of her life. Allissa's brought us so much happiness, and connected us in new ways, I'm glad Kate listened to me."
"So am I." I blush, digesting the information like a three course meal.
The door swings open, interrupting my thinking. In steps Johnny 3 Tears, accompanied by Asia, holding his right hand, her engagement ring her most visible feature. Ava, their daughter, sprints towards Scarlett.
"Yes!" They shout in unison, hugging each other and jumping like kangaroos.
I faintly hear Jordan whisper to Allissa "Ok princess, now that everyone's here, do you wanna open your presents?"
She nods, Jordan's arms forming a comforting cocoon around her.
"I love you more than words can say. So, I'm gonna make this your best day ever." He whispers, kissing her forehead.
"Hey everyone," Jordan announces.
Conversations are marching soldiers, halting at his words.
"Thanks for coming. Now that we're all here, we should-"
"Oh, crap!" Kate angrily mutters.
She's on the ground, clutching her stomach. Water drips on the carpet as stared direct her way.
"Kate, are you ok?!" Charlie Scene asks, his happiness wavering into concern.
"I-I think so, but I think my water just broke."
