"Matt, Maaatt!!!" J3T coos, trying to wake me.
I blink groggily, my vision is still blurry. I mumble "No, I wanna sleep!"
I turn over, and fall back asleep.
"Matthew!"
"What the f*ck do you want?!"
"Please wake up."
"Just five more minutes."
"Ok, fine. But that's IT! It's 10:30. If we're going to save Charlie's marriage, we're limited on time. They're gonna get divorced at twelve."
I barely hear the last sentence as I roll over, and cover my face with a pillow to shield the daylight.
I sleep soundly for a few minutes, until I hear "Kurlzz." In Allissa's sweet, little voice.
"Ok, sweetie. I'm up." I sit up, and witness the adorable sight of Allissa smiling at me in Johnny's arms.
I smile back at her "We're gonna help your daddy. I'm still angry at him, but he loves you so very much. That's why we've got to save his marriage. Right now, you're all he's got, and I don't know if he'll even have you later."
I know she doesn't understand a word I just said, but I needed to tell her what we're going to do.
"Aww, that's sweet." Johnny blushed, his blue eyes twinkling in the sunlight.
"I mean every word." I mumbled, my cheeks slightly reddening.
"So, ready to help Charlie?" He asked.
"Yea, let's go."
While walking out to his car, I sigh, thinking about if this will help him in any way. I can tell he still loves Randi, and he feels ashamed for cheating on her. I wonder if Allissa is going to live with him or Kate. I personally still want her to stay with me.
I lose myself in a void of thoughts as Johnny drives while humming to a song on the radio.
"Are you seriously humming to One Direction?" I snicker, pulling myself back into reality.
"So what if I am?" He laughs back "They're terrible, but what the hell?!"
We laugh about it, until we arrive at the courthouse.
"Ready?" Johnny asks before opening the door to the backseat to carry Allissa in.
"Yeah." I mumble nervously.
As we walk up the marble-coated stairs, my sweat beats my curly hair vigorously, my heart beat is faster than a locomotive, my brain flows with anxiety towards this.
When entering the family court building (where the divorce will take place), I walk into a nasty argument between Kate, Charlie, and Randi. Danny is trying to break them up, but his efforts are useless. I hear:
"Why is this whore here, Jordan?!" Randi growled.
"I'm not a whore, bitch!" Kate snarled.
"And I'm not a bitch, whore!" Randi retorted.
"You wanna go?" Kate asked in a sassy tone.
"How about no?!" Danny interrupted.
"You stay out of this!" Kate responded aggressively towards him.
"You're right, Danny," Randi snorted "It's not worth my time fighting this little slut."
"Don't call her a slut!" Charlie Scene interjected.
"Well, no wonder, YOU'D defend her!" Randi narrowed her eyes so low, her pupils disappeared "You can bang together all you want in thirty minutes when I'm no longer with you, you selfish, cheating dickhead!"
Charlie's face reddened. He stared at the ground as if he were staring at the most beautiful person on earth. Tears leaked out of his guilty eyes as Randi continued to yell at him and Kate.
Danny notices me slowly walking towards the commotion "Thank God you're here! They've been arguing for hours."
"It's pretty nasty from the look of it."
"You think it's nasty now?!" He laughed "Earlier, Kate punched Randi, and it got ugly from there."
The moment the syllables escaped his lips, I noticed his face was caked in scratches, and one of his doe-like, emerald eyes was bruised a dark hue of purple with black intersecting at the corners. "Is that why you're covered in scratches?"
"Yeah, I tried to break up the fight between Kate and Randi, and this is the results of it."
"Wow!" I stared in awe and disgust at his scars streaming bloody rivers down his face, all the way to his clothes.
Johnny 3 Tears stalked behind me, glanced at Danny, and murmured "I'm sorry, bro. Girls really are rough, huh?"
"Yea." Danny mumbled, wiping the blood from his cheeks.
Allissa stared at me, her blue eyes crystallizing under the light of the chandelier. Her impatient facial expression read: Just get on with it, Matt. I don't have all day.
Predicting her mental plea, I starred at Kate, Jordan, and Randi arguing as if they were in a debate. I get so annoyed with their yelling.
"SHUT UP!!!" I shout, louder than I've shouted in a long time.
They obey my command, and stare at me.
"What do you want now, Matthew?" Charlie Scene asked with extra emphasis on the "now".
"I need to say something."
"Ok," Kate answered "What now?"
"Before I start talking-" I gently take Allissa from Johnny's arms. "Jordan, I believe this is yours."
I set her in his arms. The moment her warm, tiny body enters his arms, his tears are rivers flowing in all directions.
Seeing him hold his daughter, I realized Johnny was right about how he held her. It was almost as if he'd never see her again.
I heard Charlie whisper so quietly, it was almost inaudible "You're the best mistake I ever made."
He kissed her soft, pale forehead, not noticing that Randi looked like she was about to kill him.
"Thank you, Kurly," he softly whispered as his hands gently hugged Allissa "And you too, Johnny."
We smiled back at Jordan. The sight of him and his daughter was adorable. However, Randi had a different opinion on it.
