"Thank you all for coming." I start, speaking slowly "Today, we are here to recognize the death of Katelynn Hadden Bussek, my wife."
The mourners are mainly the same guests from me and Kate's wedding, including my band mates and their families. The only guest I don't recognize is a figure lurking in a dark, dreary corner of the room. I can't recognize his face, but I hear him sniffle a couple times.
"When I first met Kate, I thought she was just another annoying fan wanting me to sign her tits, but I was wrong. She was kindhearted and happiness often radiated her features. Her eyes gleamed like the ocean. She was one of the most beautiful people. She was very sweet to anyone who crossed her path, giving them the love and affection they deserved to the best of her abilities. She had two of the sweetest, most beautiful children in the whole universe. Hopefully, they will carry out her kindness and compassion." I recite my story of Kate as if I'd read it thousands of times before.
After me, our friends recited their experiences from knowing her. Everyone's thoughts spilled like oil, filling the room with sadness and lightheartedness.
Randi wished that she wouldn't have been so mean to Kate, Funny Man didn't even crack any jokes, let alone smile in his speech.
Phil was the last to speak. "I didn't really know this person personally, but you did and I can relate to how feel towards her. She seemed kindhearted, despite deceiving a few. It's a shame she had to leave us, but then again when you're in the garden, which flowers do you pick? The pretty ones."
Drops of rain trickles down our forlorn faces, resembling the tears shed today. Carrying her coffin was harder than I thought, even though I was blessed with the assistance of Danny, Funny Man, and Charlie Scene. Once I set it down, I couldn't stop crying as I said goodbye to her once again. It reminded me of the My Chemical Romance song: Helena.
Phil's ringtone went off in that moment, playing that song.
"Oh, shit." He mutters, turning it off.
I laugh through my tears, causing him to smile as he blushes at me.
Kate's coffin is set on rope above her burial site. Jordan, Randi, and Allissa walk towards her after everyone says their goodbyes and sets flowers on her grave.
Allissa rests a red rose on her mother's coffin and whispers "Please come back, momma."
I couldn't have agreed more with her.
