Lyla P.O.V.

"Dad, Im not saying that we have to do this today, but I think it would be beneficial to evaluate our patrol tactics. Blood Dawns Alpha recently reported a rogue crossing over his boarder. They are right next to us."

"Lyla our patrols havent had a rogue sighting in months. Even then, our patrol tactics have never failed..."

"Dad-"

"Thats the end of that topic Lyla!"

I sigh, giving in and continuing at the pile of papers in front of me. A signature here, a stamp of approval there.... its all quite boring.

A knock sounds on the office door and my body goes rigid as his scent hits me. Weston opens the door and enters the office.

"Alpha, your presence is requested with my father."

"Thank you Weston..." My father replies standing from his chair and taking off his glasses, placing them on his desk. He messes with his tie as he strides out of the room, leaving me and Weston in an awkward silence.

I hate this. Me and Wes have never been awkward with each other. I dont want this for us. I stare down at my sleek black pen, making small doodles on the corner of one of the papers. Wes clears his throat and excuses himself from the room. I look up after I hear the click of the door closing.

I let out a heavy sigh and rub my hands over my face. Its only been a day and Im already feeling the pressure. It feels like some one is pushing on my heart from all sides, waiting for it to crack. Buts its already cracking, breaking into a thousand tiny shards. Its just waiting to fully fall to pieces. I lay my forehead on the paper covered desk in front of me.

Wes' scent lingers in the room and I can help but breath it in. I want to run down the hallway and apologize and let him hold me. Regret is filling me up and slowly suffocating me. I should stay strong. Not everyone can stay strong. But I should be able to. Half of me is missing.

The door creaks open and I here soft footfalls coming towards me. A soft hand falls on my shoulder. I peer up through my fingers at my mother who looks down at me with a concerned expression.

"Talk to me Lyla. Whats wrong?"

I shake my head, not wanting to tell my mom my mistakes. I want to be okay, so I should pretend that Im okay. She's my mom though, she will see right through it.

"I messed up mom... big time."

"We all make mistakes sweetie...."

"Not like this..."

She sighs and rubs my back in a comforting way. Pulling up a chair, she sits next to me and takes one of my hands in her own.

"For every problem there is a solution. Find it. Fix your mistake."

"I dont know if thats possible..."

"You're a Luna, find a way to make it possible."

She is right. My mother gives the best advice. I give her a tight hug and make my way to the door with a new purpose. My heels click on the floor as I walk down the hallway, a girl on a mission. A luna getting her best friend back. A luna accepting that she cant live without the love of her mate.
