Second Chance

Hey! Before this chapter starts I want to give a little shoutout to some amazing people! Firstly my cousin Jessica (JBThePhanStalker) who just started reading my fanfiction she is really awesome and gives me great advice (she even helped me read this chapter to check for mistakes!) Secondly to my friend Alicia we both share a love for Enid and she has given me advice on my writing which helped me a lot! I don't remember much of what happened after Carl left I guess I just cried until I passed out from exhaustion.

However, for some reason when I finally woke up, I found myself back in my room on the bed where I was talking to Enid not so long ago. Nobody else was here it was just empty as usual. I wondered what time it was, hopefully I didn't sleep through mine and Enid's date.

I walked over to the darkened curtains, being careful not to stand on anyone's bed as I made my way there. I held the curtain open slightly and peered out, the sun blazed through into the room. Thankfully it wasn't late, it looked pretty early still.

Rick: "Spying on someone, huh?"

You jumped around almost falling off your feet and squinted at Rick, his hair was a mess and he looked more sleepy than usual.

You: "Umm, no I was just... Just checking to see... Um, what time it was."
Rick: "Well looking out a window ain't gonna do yah' no good."

He placed his empty cup of coffee, which was probably made by Carol, on a nearby table and pulled up his sleeve.
He peered at his watch for a moment as if he couldn't tell the time.

Rick: "1:25, how comes you wanted to know?"
You: "Oh I was just... Just going to help Maggie over at the farm!"
Rick: "I'll admit, any other day that would have fooled me but Maggie has taken today off to spend it with Glenn. So I guess I should try asking again, how comes you wanted to know?"
You: "Look i don't want to sound mean but I'd rather not get into it right now."
Rick: "I guess you're intitled to not tell me."

Rick stood still for a moment while thinking something to himself, then walked towards me cautiously.

Rick: "Look I know it's none of my business but do you know what's gotten into Carl I haven't heard a peep out of him all morning, even Carol is getting a little suspicious."
You: "I.. I honestly don't know, sorry."

I hated lying to Rick. Though I seemed so consistant at doing it.

Rick: "Yeah, thanks anyway. I'll see you round."
You: "No problem, I'm sure he'll come around eventually..."

Without a second glance Rick left the room shutting the door behind him.

Eventually it was silent again and I didn't know exactly what to do.

I had quiet a while before it was time to meet with Enid. I didn't know wether I should spend that time planning how I would make this the best date ever or if I should try talking to Carl again.
Maybe he had calmed down a little now. The last thing I wanted was for him to think I had just given up trying.

With that thought I put my hair up in a ponytail and decided that me and Carl needed to talk.

Without drawing too much attention to yourself you ran down the road to catch up with Rick. He wasn't too far away but definitely not in talking distance, thankfully however he wasn't moving very quickly.

You: "RICK! Wait up!"

So much for not drawing attention to yourself.

Rick stopped and faced you, he pushed back his hair as you made your way gradually towards him.

Rick: "You seem to be in quiet a rush, come to ask for the time again?"

You laughed a little while catching your breath.

You: "No, no I just came to ask if you knew where Carl was."
Rick: "Umm.. Last I saw him was outside the armoury, couldn't guarantee he'd still be there though."
You: "Well it's a good place to start, Thanks"
Rick: "Yeah no problem."

I turned to walk towards the armoury before Rick said quickly.

Rick: "Oh and if you find him could you tell him I'm gonna be out later so he's gonna need to look after Judith."
You: "Yeah sure thing, I'll make sure he gets the memo."

Rick smiled and continued walking the way he was going.

I tried to remember where the armoury was and made my way there.

A few wrong turns and "hellos" later you found your way to the armoury. It didn't take a long search before you found Carl sat against the wall picking at flowers.

You walked cautiously towards him and sat down next to him.

Carl: "Sorry..."
You: "What... Don't you think I should be the one saying sorry?"
Carl: "Sure an apology would be nice but I definitely owe you one first."
You: "Honestly what ever you said last night, I forg..."
Carl: "No, no not what I said last night... Well a little bit what I said last night... But I'm apologising for the full thing I blew it way out of proportion and I was mad at you for no God damn reason."
You: "Of corse you had reasons! I was being completely unfair I shouldn't have hit you, I should have talked to you about what you said."
Carl: "[Y/N] This is an official apology from 'Carl Grimes himself' if I were you I'd take it and cherish it forever!"

You laughed at his stupid sense of humour then pulled him into a tight hug. He leaned his head on your shoulder gently.

You: "As much as I'm honoured by your apology, I think it's something I'm going to have to earn."

Carl lifted his head up and held you by your shoulders shacking you slightly as he spoke.

Carl: "So you're telling me, I can give you any task to do and you'll do it?!
You: "Well, within reason of course."
Carl: "Would you dress up as a chicken for a full day!?"
You: "Where on earth do you expect me to find a chicken costume!?"
Carl: "Good point... Okay how about if I asked you to sing a love song to Glenn?"
You: "I don't see why not?"
Carl: "No wait! Don't take that as my final request! I... Um give me time to think it over okay?"
You: "I will give you as long as you need, hopefully at some point you'll forget."
Carl: "Oh trust me I never forget!"
