It had been a while since I said goodbye to Carl.
Therefore, I only had 5 minutes to get ready for my date with Enid. I knew she wouldn't want anything too extravagant but I didn't want to put no effort in at all.

I brushed my hair as quickly as I could and pulled on a grey and black striped shirt with grey denim overalls.

I knew that it would be a cliche thing to do but I had come to the conclusion that a picnic would be the best thing I could do in the time I had left.

I ran through into the kitchen where I found Carol stood mixing some cookie dough.

Carol: "Oh, Hey [Y/N] I didn't know you were home!"
You: "Hey, um yup I just recently got here though."

She pulled out a stool for me to sit down on and then continued with her baking.

Carol: "Well there are only two reasons why you are here. One, you want me to make you something for a special someone."

She smiled at me and winked.

Carol: "Or Two, you just wanted to keep me company."

I shuffled in my seat and cleared my throat.

You: "If I wasn't in a rush I would gladly stay and help out but I'm actually almost late for something important."

Carol looked at me for a moment to asses the situation before walking over to a cupboard and wrapping a few things in a small blanket.

Carol: "Some snacks for a date, prepared and organised by Carol herself!"

She looked at me enthusiastically and handed me the bundle of food.
I stood up and hugged her after taking the bag.

You: "Thank you Carol, I owe you!"
Carol: "You can repay me by having a fun time and not getting up to anything I wouldn't!"

I chuckled and push my stool back to its original place.

Carol: "Now hurry and go, you don't want to be late!"

I said goodbye and made my way towards the lake.

I didn't run because I knew I wasn't dangerously late but I walked a little quicker than I usually would.

Eventually I made my way to the lake and thankfully Enid wasn't there yet. It was so much more beautiful than I imagined. The grass was a vibrant green and the lake sparkled carelessly in the sun.

I took a deep breath inhaling fresh air and found a warm spot of grass where the sun flowed peacefully.

Placing down the bundle I listened closely to the water. It wasn't too loud but it gave a calm relaxing tone.

I took a look at what Carol had packed for us.

• Some soft cheese sandwiches.
• Two bottles of what looked to be orange juice.
• Two apples (Even after an apocalypse Carol wanted us to be healthy.)
• Four homemade cookies with small chocolate chips.

I laid everything out neatly and sat starring out over the fence wondering whether the walkers enjoyed the warmth... Probably not...
