[A/N] - Okay so I know this may be kind of weird but I really badly want an internet friend! I'm kinda shit at talking to people so I usually don't approach humans online. If any of you would like to maybe be internet friends or even just talk please message me as that would be super awesome! Or just comment 'Apple Banana' and I'll message you haha. 🖤

Carl didn't seem to be interested in dancing or interacting with anyone else.
We both just sat down on some white plastic lawn chairs.

Carl: "Thanks for stopping me earlier."
You: "No problem, I just... just didn't want you to get in any trouble. As much as Ron is a stupid cunt, he doesn't look like the type of person to walk away from a fight."

In the corner of my eye I saw Carl smile a little.
His hand moved and took hold of mine.

Nothing.
I didn't feel any thing romantic while he held my hand.
Not love.
Not warmth.
Just.
Just safety.

You: "Thanks for backing me up."
Carl: "Your welcome."

We both shuffled slightly closer to each other until our arms were resting together.

Carl: "How comes Enid wasn't backing you up?"

I feel too hurt to gather any words so instead I shrugged my shoulders and laid my head in the space of Carl's neck.
Knowing I could burst into a deep rant any second Carl just put an arm around me, not saying anything either.

???: "Hey kiddos!"

Startled, me and Carl jumped up trying to sit in a casual position.

You: "Oh uh, Hey Abraham."
Abraham: "Woah, don't let me ruin the moment!"

We forced a laugh.

Abraham: "I've just got a little message to pass onto [Y/N] here."
You: "Right?"
Abraham: "Well I'm not sure I can say who its from but, a... a someone said they wanted to talk to you."

I felt Carl's eyes on me but I stayed focused on Abraham.

Abraham: "Uhh... They, they asked if you could meet them over by the main gate."
You: "Oh, that's... that's"

I diverted my eyes to Carl who was now just smiling at me.

Carl: "Go ahead, I'm sure Abraham wouldn't mind sparing me a dance."

Time Skip

It was late and dark, I hardly knew where I was going.
However, I eventually made my way to the front gate but surprisingly nobody was there yet.

I walked closer while squinting my eyes trying to see if they were hiding anywhere.
I practically tripped over when I heard a loud and clear whistle coming from above me.
When I glanced up to the guard towers I barely spotted Enid stood at the top.

You: "Oh."
Enid: "[Y/N], just. Just get your sweet ass up here!"

Reluctantly I made my way up the guard tower. I could hear nothing but hushed chirping of crickets and low groans of walkers sparsely stood outside.

As I reached the top of the tower I heard footsteps on the floor above me and when I got to the guard point I gazed at Enid who stared back at me smiling.

Enid: "It wasn't my fault."
You: "Why do you even hang around with him?"
Enid: "We've been friends for a while, I just. He's a dick but... he still means something to me."
You: "And I don't?"
Enid: "No, no I didn't mean...!"

She lunged over to me grabbing my arm as I was about to leave.

Enid: "Please stay."

It was time.

You: "I need to talk to you."
Enid: "I need to talk to you too."

We both shuffled and sat down on the floor.

You: "You go first."
Enid: "Well... I guess I don't really know where to start."
You: "How about you start from the beginning when dinosaurs roamed the earth?"
Enid: "Funny one. This is serious."
You: "Yeah, yeah sorry."
Enid: "Well I guess I should start from yesterday. Umm, me and Ron were just hanging out after you walked me home. At first I didn't really mind but then he started questioning me about my relationship with you."
You: "Dick."
Enid: "Don't. *Cough* and then he kept telling me all horrible things about you and of corse I thought nothing of it. Then."

Enid looked down and bit her lip.

Enid: "Then he said something and..."
You: "And? And what?"

She sighed and looked away from me.

You: "What did he say!?"
Enid: "He told me that... that he saw you and Carl... umm. Kissing?"

Oh crap.
Oh crap, crap, crap.
Should I lie?
Would she even believe me?
What if she gets mad.

I've screwed up.

Enid: "[Y/N], is everything okay?"
You: "I just... why would Ron even say something like that?"
Enid: "I don't know and I'm not sure, so you didn't do it right?"
You: "No! No of corse not!"
Enid: "Oh! Thank gosh. I, I'm so sorry I ever actually thought you would do that. You're... you're not mad with me are you?"
You: "Of corse not. I'm just glad you came to me first."
Enid: "Promise me you never did or will do anything like that."
You: "I... I promise."

A smile jumped onto Enid's face.
She leapt towards me and swung her arms around my tense body.

I felt so much regret.
I just lied to her.
I just promised I wouldn't do something that I already have.

I don't deserve Enid.

She deserves way better...
