Somebody Waiting

Raine sat cozily on her favorite spot here in Starbucks, she can't help but sigh at the remembrace of last saturday's fiasco.

Saturday (Sam and Pat's wedding day)...

Nakatulog ba ko? Hay...nakatulog ata? Actually di ko talaga alam. Gets nyo ba yung feeling na pakiramdam mo nakatulog ka pero hindi at parang mas pagod ka pa ata kesa sa hindi natulog? Sabi ni Raine sa isip.

She looked on the mirror only to see horror.

'Grabe Raine, handang-handa ang pes natin ah. Handa nang bitayin.' She uttered in defeat on her reflection.

(Phone Ringing)

She lazily look at it, lifted one brow on the registered caller I.D and answered as if tired from a whole day work when in fact the day was just starting.

'H-E-L-L-O' She greets tiringly.

'Oh hi! Good morning' The person on the other line enthusiastically answered.

'Okey. I don't like long talks, blurt it out.' She said directly.

'Ahmm..' Sunget he thought in his mind.

'I will just inform you Raine that I'll be there in 30 mins. Medyo traffic lang.'

Nanlaki ang mata ng dalaga at napatingin sa orasan.

'Oh wait, what time na ba?!?!'Taranta nyang sabi.

'8 am palang sa clock ko! Anong oras sayo?!' Pagtataka nyang tanong at nagmadaling pumunta ng banyo para madaliin ang pag aayos.

When she stopped on her tracks, she heard rolls of uncontrolable laughter on the other line.

'Ayan, gising ka na.' Richard pointed out after bursting on laughing again.
'Para kasing patay kausap ko kanina.'

Unknowingly to him, a fuming Raine is starting to wrestle and put a pillow to its death while holding her line.

'Hoy! Mr. Reyes, siguraduhin mong hindi ka male-late mamaya kundi magagaya ka sa unan na sinasakal ko ngayon!' She said in gritted teeth.

'Today is the day' Raine sighed at the thought of her bestfriend and first love's wedding later. 'Magpapaganda na nga lang ako' she resolved to herself and started to doll up.

She wears a black satin gown trailing perfectly on her legs down. Her hair curled softly accenting her prominent feature on the face. Putted a make up enough to cover her shattering confidence, making her look like a woman that's about to be an envy of many. At syempre ang shoes na inabot sya maghapon sa divisoria matawaran lang.

Perfect. She thought.

Yes? She asked her reflection on the mirror.

No. Her thought answered.

Who am I kidding anyways? I'm a plain jane trying to be heart broken beautifully today.

Tears began to form on the lid of her eyes when suddenly an unwelcomed ring downstairs caused them to rolled back up.

Dingdong (doorbell)

Her brows furrowed in grimance.
'Bad trip! Magmomoment nga lang babasagin pa!'

Dingdong (doorbell)

'OO ETO NA!' She shouted while hurridly go down the stairs.

Syempre dahil medyo aanga-anga sya nadapa nanaman ang lola nyo.
'Hays..kainis!' She thought.

Iika-ikang lumakad ito papuntang pinto nang nakasimangot.
'Sino ba to???' Inis nitong sabi habang inaayos ang sapatos na natanggal kanina mula sa pagkakatalisod.

She lifted her head after that and look at the person in front of her.

'Oh, hi beautiful, I'm here!' The person happily greeted.

Richard.

Gwapo.
Naghang ata ako ng sampung segundo sa pagtulala sa kanya ah.
.
.
.
.
.
Ok. Gumagana na ulit utak ko. Amma take that back.

'Pwede na.' I think out loud.

He gave me a confusing look.

'Pwede na?' Sagot nya na medyo disappointed sa reaksyon ko.

'Hindi mo ba alam kung paano ko pinilit makatulog ng maaga kagabi para fresh ako ngayon, kung paano ko pinalantsa ng mabuti tong white polo at slacks ko para magmukhang pogi, tapos 'pwede na' lang ang sasabihin mo?'

Drama.

'Dami mong sinabi. Oo na. Kahit siguro magpuyat ka gwapo ka pa rin, pero hindi ka pasa sa taste ko.'  Sabi ko habang sinesenyasan sya na pumasok sa loob.

'Ok na sana that you find me handsome eh, yun pala sablay sa taste mo.'

Umupo sya sa sofa habang ako naman kinukuha sya ng maiinom sa kusina.

'You look beautiful' rinig kong sabi nya.

Infairness napangiti naman ako dun. Minsan kahit waley talaga to kahit papano nakakawala ng stress eh.

'Thank you. You too.' I said while walking back sa sala.

'Now I know what i remember when I see you...'

'What?' He asks excitedly.

'You remind me of a marshmallow. Yung niluluto sa bourne fire. Ang puti-puti mo kasi tapos naka-white ka pa ngayon.' I said nonchalantly as I gave him a glass of water.

He frown looking at me.

'Aw...sad marshmallows!' I tease him more.
