I walked into my house and hung up my keys to my car.

"Hello Kait-who is this?" My mom asked as she crossed her arms.

"A friend." I said as I walked past her, up the stairs.

"Maybe you should find some friends your own age!" Mom yelled up the stairs.

"Now I understand why you hate your parents so much." Marabelle whispered. "I can relate cause I sure hate my mom."

We walked into Austin's room. He was on his bed, with his computer on his lap.

"Who is this?" He asked as he looked up at us.

I explained who she was and why she needed us. Each sentence I got into it, his jaw dropped even farther.

"So, you want me to come with you and this little girl that came out of your co-workers headphones and with this guy you barely know to hunt for her dad who is married to a witch who are both from a magical world?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.

"I'm not going without you. You are my best friend and role model. You are good with directions and can talk to strangers no problem." I explained.

"What about our plan to share the Gospel with our parents?" He asked.

"We can do that afterwards. Come on, it will be an adventure of a lifetime!" I smiled.

"What about my job? Who is going to bring in money for our family?" Austin asked.

"Dad has a job." I shrugged.

"Not a good one." Austin frowned.

"We can send money or something, I don't know! I honestly don't even know where her dad even lives!" I exclaimed.

"He lives in New York City." Marabelle said.

"WHAT!?" Austin and I said in unison.

"We don't have enough money to go there!" Austin exclaimed.

"I've been saving up personal money. I'm sure you have too. And Zach probably has." I answered.

"Yes, but that money is for our future! Are you willing to just throw away your future?" Austin exclaimed.

"It won't be throwing away my future. I promise. Trust me. Please? We can get a plane with all our money combined." I asked.

"Fine." Austin sighed.

"YAY!" Marabelle started jumping up and down.

"Come on, now we just have to go convince my friend Zach." I took her hand, walked down the steps, ignored my mom trying to lecture me about my choice of friends, and walked out the door, grabbing my keys along the way.
