Collateral Damage

- TWENTY TWO -

"ROSE!" Yelling from my bedside woke me from my dreams. I rolled over to be met with green eyes. The ones that belonged to Adrian, he looked freaked out.

"What Adrian," I muttered, running a hand over my throbbing head. I don't remember how I got here. The last thing I remember is laying by the lake side.

"It's Tilly. I know what they want." I stood from my bed and followed Adrian into the living, Scott sat on the couch watching TV.

"I spoke to Tilly in a spirit dream, Rose did you know a woman named Melissa when you were pregnant with Matilda?" Adrian asked, he looked desperate.

"Yeah, her husband told me she killed herself around the time I gave Tilly to the academy. She had a kid and he died." I said, wondering how this had anything to do with Matilda's disappearance. And then it clicked. "She turned herself strigoi."

"She thinks that if you can have a baby with another dhampir that you can have one with a strigoi."

"Wait what?" Scott asked. I had forgotten he didn't know that.

"You are bait Rose." Adrian said, completely ignoring Scott.

"We have to get her back, this is all my fault. Did Matilda say where in Spokane she is?" I continued.

"She said a blue house." Adrian said.

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!" Scott yelled at the top of his lungs.

"Rose had a baby with her teacher, who is also a dhampir." Adrian said. I watched in heartbreak as Scott's face fell and a look of fury came over his features.

"How could you not tell me?" Scott said.

"I don't have time for this." I said, making my way to the door.

"Where are you going?" Adrian said. I wanted to scream.

"I am going to get my daughter back."

"You can't Rose, it's too dangerous." He replied.

"Watch me!" I said, slamming the door behind me.

How could I let this happen? Giving her to the academy was supposed to keep her safe. If they have hurt even one hair on head I will kill all of them. Pulling up to the gates in the rental I let a single tear stream down my face before turning all of my emotions into anger.

"Rose?" Said Dimitri's voice, he must have been on gate duty. "Where are you going?"

"I have some things to take care of, look I don't need your opinions just let me out."

"Will you be back?" Dimitri asked, giving the gate guy a nod, he opened the gate.

"Probably not." I said, driving away before I could hear his response. I needed to get to Matilda before it's too late.

Adrian's POV

"Hey Belikov." I said opening the door to his office.

"Hello Adrian, what can I do for you?"

"I was just wondering if you had seen Rose today, her Scott and I got into a bit of an argument and she said she was leaving."

"Yeah she left when I was on gate duty, about 4 hours ago." He said, looking at me, "She looked pissed."

"Fucking hell." I said, running both of my hands through my hair.

"What's going on?" Dimitri asked.

"Call an emergency briefing." I said, as I walked towards the door.

"Why?"

"Because Rose is going to get herself killed." I replied.
