Chapter IX

Waiting For Tomorrow

-Amelia-

I always have been able to read people. To find out what they're really about. But when I met Rayn, it was like he was a closed book. I don't understand him, or his reasons. Why am I telling you this? Well, this topic has a lot to do with this chapter of my twisted life.

Darkness.

That's what I saw.

My eyes were closed, and my head ached. What happened?

Oh.

Yeah that's right.

I felt my body cringe as the memories of last night came flooding back. I felt a soft pillow under my head, even though I was sure I had passed out on the forest floor. There was a soft blanket wrapped around my cold body.

"What the hell?"

A voice spoke out, was someone else in the room? That didn't sound like the women that helped me before. This voice sounded male. I tried to open my eyes, but they remained closed. So I just sat and listened.

"Oh dear, that's poor thing was all alone in the rain last night."

I heard another voice, this time it sounded like Natasha, the woman that saved me last night. "She's had hypothermia"

"What?" the first voice exclaimed, "Great. Just great."

Wait, I have hypothermia? Well that explains why I feel terrible. But who did the voice belong to?

"Rayn? Hey, got Kage in the barn and- Hey! that's Amelia!"

Another voice, this one I knew as Jason's, joined the group. So the other was Rayn? That means he found me. uh oh.

"Yes Jase, and apparently she has hypothermia" Rayn's voice came in.

"Did." Corrected Natasha. "I healed her, she's probably just tired and she might have a headache when she wakes up"

"Do" I declared, finally finding my voice. I heard the sound of footfalls on the wooden floor, and when I managed to open my eyes Rayn was gone.

Jase smiled at me from the doorway of what looked like the parlor, and waved. "Hey Em, how you feeling?"

I smiled before sitting up. "I've been better."

He laughed, while Natasha hurried over to me before placing one of her thin, but strong hands on my forehead. "You're still warm, but the sickness is gone. Do you need anything? You know what? I'll get you some rabbit stew, seeing since everyone is here, I'll just make a big pot." With this, she rushed out, passing a chuckling Jason in the process.
