Chapter 8 - The Fall of the Haikuzuke Clan

I heard footsteps from afar.

My eyes were to heavy to see so I depended on my hearing.

..

A voice spoke and it sounded worried.

..

But it also sounded familiar.

..

The scent of this place....

..

I'm not home..

Etsuko's pov.

I slowly got up and open my eyes. Everything was a big blur and I had to rub my eyes so I can see better. I jumped a few feet away as my sensory-nin found another presence in the room.

I look around.

I was in a wooden floor room. There was mattresses on the floor and wooden walls. There was some scrolls hanging from the walls with Japanese handwriting. I saw a door towards my left and presumed that was the bathroom.

I then hear a groan from the mattress. I look at it and notice that there is a bump through the covers. And by the sound of the groan, I believe that it is Zabuza. Not a second goes by that Haku appears.

"Zabuza, do not move so much, the sunbo needles are still affecting your body. So take it easy." Haku said.

My eyes widen as what happened in the anime must've happened again while I was unconsious. I smile. Haku is really good at acting and his precision and knowledge about the body made him a worthy opponent. That means that Kakashi doesn't know, I thought.

That was then he noticed me. In a blink of an eye, he had a senbo needle at my throat.

"Now tell me girl. How did you know my name?" He said with a deadly voice.

"I just read it from a bingo book in the library. Its not that hard especially now that I'm a genin." I shrug, not feeling scared of him since he's going to die soon.

"Alright smart mouth, what's your name then?"

I raise a brow at that, wondering if he thinks I'm stupid to even tell my name to a well known rogue nin like him.

"It's Etsuko master." Haku answers for me.

Damn it- I forgot he was spying for the whole fight. I wince slightly.

"Surname?"

"I'm not from a clan if that's why your asking." I snark, knowing that they can't possibly know it.

"Maybe so, but amuse me. Its not like you can do anything else right now." Zabuza states.

Ugh, I hate it but he's right. I'm kidnaped and won't be able to leave with Haku being a guard dog- Wait... why am I so weary of them knowing though? They're going to die in a week anyway- and they're secretive as hell so they wouldn't tell anyone about me anyway. Besides I doubt they know anything about my family so what's the harm?

I sigh. "My surname is Haiku, there happy?"

Haku and Zabuza blink a couple of times, with Haku having his mouth gaping open like a fish, which only weirded me out.

Just what is up with that reaction? 

"Hey Haku are you okay?" I ask, wondering just what the hell is up with them.

He looks at me and gulps. Zabuza was sitting up with wide eyes on his face.

"You mean that you are part of the Haikuzuke clan?" He questions, his voice filled with disbelief.
