Both of you were around the human equivalent of 17 now, where you and Loki grew together as friends during that long period of time. Unfortunately, not to your surprise though, you had found yourself falling in love with the man. How could you not? The way he looked at you, when he smiled. It made your heart flutter. He was your equal, he understood you and you him.
You had noticed Frigga was flitting about, as rather nervous demeanor seemed to fill her mind. "Are you alright, Allmother?" you asked.
She stopped and realized that she was still teaching you and Loki currently with lessons right now. Loki shot you a look, it looked like he didn't want you to ask. "Oh! I am just excited for Thor's coronation honestly," she smiled. Loki slammed his head into his book in annoyance.
"Oh, so that's why you didn't want me to ask," you said in your head, directing it towards Loki. He gave a short nod and looked back into his book and pretended to read. "...Sorry..." you apologized, sending your thought to his mind again. "Honestly you should be king," you commented. A small smile graced his face and faded. Frigga cleared her throat and continued the lesson.
"Since both of you are, well becoming strong sorcerers, possibly stronger than me even, I will do one last sparring session, since time allows for only one with the castle being so busy and-" she became giddy and stopped herself. "Anyway, let's go to where you always spar,"
Instead of you and Loki racing each other like always, you both decided to teleport there. Both of you got into your normal fighting stances and sparred. Loki always made the first move. What looked like fighting was really dancing. The both of you went back and forth with spells, Loki using his illusions every now and then and you kicking up flames and having electricity surge through your hand. Both of you were close to knocking each other down, but it took possibly 20 minutes for a winner to be chosen. Loki conjured up many clones of himself and surrounded you, but you used your electricity to force him back, ultimately making his original self land on his back. A slight groan came from him as Frigga yelled 'End!'.
You helped Loki up and healed some burns on him. "Sorry, Loki, I didn't mean to burn you that much," you apologized. Loki brushed it off as you healed him.
"Good fight," Loki grunted, his pride obviously hurt. He pushed you off gently and walked off.
"Aren't you going to critique us, Allmother?" you asked.
"No, I believe what you both did was perfect," Frigga smiled. "You two have grown so much," she sighed. She watched Loki saunter off and frowned. "He seems so closed off lately though..." Frigga sighed. You looked over to Loki as he disappeared into the inside of the castle.
"I'll go talk to him," you offered. She gave a warm smile and hugged you. "Good luck," she winked. Your face turned red and you couldn't help but chuckle awkwardly as you walked off.
You walked throughout the halls, walking past guards that you recognized and you caught a glimpse of your father. You slowed down and then began to walk faster. Practically running down the halls, you knocked on Loki's door. "Come in," Loki's velvet voice said softly. You slipped in and shut the door. You stood awkwardly before gaining the courage to speak.
"I know something is wrong, Loki," you said. "You walked off rather... well, in a bad mood." Loki only chuckled dryly.
"You always could read me like an open book," he said. He was sitting on his bed, his back against the wall. Loki patted a spot and you obeyed, walking over and sitting there. "It should be me who gets the crown," Loki said. He absentmindedly took your hand and squeezed it. His hands were always softer than yours, you honestly wondered why he always held it so tenderly.
"Loki... I need to tell you something..." you started. He leaned forward and tilted his head towards you with curiosity. His emerald eyes bore into you with hope. "Um..." you looked down. You then locked eyes with him as you took a deep breath. "I love you."
Loki was left speechless, for possibly the first time. Internally, Loki was absolutely happy. You didn't know what was going on in his mind so you got up to leave. "I understand if you don't feel the same, we are-" You were cut off with Loki's soft lips crashing against yours. "Mmph!" you said with eyes widened. Loki ALWAYS made the first move. Your eyes closed as you kissed him back. It felt like forever before he pulled away.
"I was thinking you'd never say that," Loki smirked. You gave a dry laugh.
"Um... and just so you know so things aren't weird in the future... I'm... asexual," you said.
"Oh, I figured."
"I- Oh."
"We've been friends for a while, (y/n), you've mentioned it before," Loki smirked.
"I must have forgot then." Loki only smirked and booped your nose.
