When you heard Loki was actually going to stay on Earth, you immediately requested from Director Fury to be the one to keep an eye over him, using the reasoning that you being from Asgard and having the same strength as him would ensure the most efficient way of keeping an eye on him. Fury was reluctant at first but allowed it, knowing that any other Avenger probably would have killed Loki if they had the chance. Thor was too busy to essentially babysit his younger brother, but you were happy and up for the task. Because of this, Loki had moved into your apartment, acting as your roommate. You, luckily having a guest bedroom, quickly tailored it to his needs and to his aesthetic, hoping he'd feel more at home. Loki was skeptical when he first moved in but quickly grew used to it, knowing he didn't exactly have a home to go back to with Asgard being destroyed.
Needless to say, living with him was a dream. It only became a problem when you realised one thing after living with him for a few months. You were in love with him. It just hit you suddenly one day, when he'd fallen asleep on the couch, hugging the pillow as the tv was playing something quietly in the background. You looked at him with fondness that day, a warmth growing in your chest as you turned off the tv. You had turned towards Loki and went to caress his cheek before abruptly stopping yourself and retreating to your bedroom out of panic.
You began to avoid Loki after that, trying to limit interactions to where he wouldn't notice. It's not like you were going to abandon him as a friend but you felt your attraction towards him was a problem. Loki, on the other hand, did notice your growing distance as of late.
He decided to confront you in your bedroom one day after coming the two of you came home from separate missions. Something that you had requested. He knocked on your bedroom door, waiting for your permission. You granted it and he opened it, sitting on the edge of your bed as you turned towards him in your desk chair.
"You need something, Loki?"
"Yes," Loki replied. "I'd like to know why you've been trying to avoid me these last couple of weeks." Dammit, he noticed. You cleared your throat and didn't say anything for a bit. Loki frowned and sighed. "Is it because you're living with a former villain..." his voice was shaky and filled with sadness. The one person in the world he trusted and even he saw him as a monster. He waited for an answer and after a few moments, went to get up before you stopped him.
"No, it's- I..." you didn't know how to say it. You'd never pursued a relationship before because of your heritage and the fact humans lived shorter lifespans compared to you. You couldn't bear the thought of losing a loved one so you avoided it. You sighed, dropping your head in defeat. "I'm in love with you, Loki. I just, I didn't want to get to close and chase you away. And I," you bit your lip. "I'm not gonna lie, I was kinda afraid you wouldn't reciprocate those feelings. I haven't exactly acted on these feelings before." Loki blinked a few times, processing what you just said before motioning you towards him. You got up and sat next to him on the edge of the bed, looking at the floor with how nervous you felt.
"Sit still and close your eyes," Loki said quietly. You did what he asked and the bed shifted, his weight lifting off and leaving you sitting there. You then felt lips pressed upon yours softly before leaving. Your eyes fluttered open and Loki stood in front of you with a grin on his face. "I hope you know that I do reciprocate those feelings, (y/n). You have no idea how long I was waiting for those words," he said, kneeling down in front of you. He took your hands into his and looking into your eyes. You felt your face heating up again and he noticed, giving you a smirk and kissing you again. This one lasted longer, his lips were soft and gentle, the scent of lavender and mint coming from Loki. You decided to take a leap of faith and grabbed his face, leaning back on the bed. Loki smirked in the kiss as you landed on your back, taking it in as much as you could. He then peppered your face with kisses before you pushed him off lightly. You sat up quickly, feeling like your heart was going to explode. Your face was flushed and Loki could see you weren't used to this at all. "Are you alright?" Loki asked.
"Yeah! I, wow, I'm not good at this," you replied. "There's, there's a lot of emotions going on in my head right now and I don't, I don't wanna mess this up," you said. He chuckled and kissed you again. You froze up for a moment, the temperature dropping drastically before melting into the kiss. His fingers intertwined with yours, inhaling to take in your musky scent. He broke the kiss and leaned back on his hand.
"Trust me, I may be the god of lies, but you won't mess this up," Loki assured. "Besides," he continued, "you should be more worried about me making a mistake." You quirked a brow at him and he chuckled. "I had a fling with a grandmaster on a planet before Asgard was destroyed."
"Oh, right, that I had to watch that from your perspective," you said, a grossed out look on your face. "I'm glad those were flashes but that was such kinky shit you did."
"Okayyy, we don't talk about that, there was one thing that's true though," Loki laughed, his voice going quiet in the last part. He leaned forward right next to your ear. "I don't top," he whispered.
"Okay!" you said, getting up from the bed. Your face was flushed once again and you paced back and forth to distract yourself.
"You've seriously never had a fling with a mortal?" Loki asked with disbelief.
"Not really! I'm not the type of guy to go out there and fall in love easily, or just want a one night stand for that matter," you exclaimed. Loki pursed his lips.
"Some would call you unmanly for not wanting to lay with others," Loki commented.
"Yeah, well, to hel with them," you sighed. "It's none of their business anyway."
"So are you more of a... what's the Midgardian saying, 'take me out to dinner first before hand'," Loki quipped. You thought about it for a moment and you nodded. "And are you planning on announcing our relationship to the Avengers?"
"No," you said, a mischievous smile growing on your face. Loki cocked his head to the side in curiosity. "I wanna see how long it takes them to figure it out."
"So does that mean we'll be on the same missions in the future?" Loki smirked.
"Well, we're partners after all," you confirmed, you then gave him a wink. He stood up from your bed and pulled you close towards him, a mischievous twinkle in his emerald eyes. You felt being an Avenger was about to get more interesting.
