Chapter 17

Emma’s POV

I walked for what seemed like hours in the dark neighborhood. I looked back and saw the same red truck following close behind me. I picked up my pace a little, when a dog jumped out of nowhere frightening me. He looked really angry. He growled and snapped his sharp teeth at me. That’s when I heard the truck drive away.

But I just continued staring at the dog wondering why he was angry and barking at me. All of a suddenly, he stopped barking and moved back, whimpering. I bent down and petted his head. He’s just another lonely creature in this world. Like me…

“Wow.” I heard a familiar voice say. I glanced up at a house and saw Stefan smiling down at me from his window.

“How did you do that? You’re like a dog whisperer.” Even though I had no clue what that is, I couldn’t help but blush. His voice is so deep, it makes me melt every time I hear it.

“What are doing out this late?”

“I cant sleep.” I shrugged

“Me either. By the time, I get done with all my stuff, I cant just pass out for eight hours..”

“I understand.” I said nodding. He let out deep breath and continued, “I like sitting here just sit here, look at the stars. They make you feel so small. I know this sounds girly but, I lose myself when I look up there. Its like I have some alternate universe where everything is better.”

I looked down remembering his died a little while ago. I looked at his face and saw that he was holding in a lot of emotion. Sadness, anger, depression.

Stefan cleared his throat and looked at me. “I heard how you cant remember anything.” Thanks for reminding me…

“That must be really hard and scary.” I shook my head at him and said,” You have no idea.” I replied with a little giggle, trying to brighten the mood.

He just chuckled. “I should get some sleep. You should too, Emma.” Smiling, I turned to walk back to the house but Stefan’s voice stopped me.  “Your parents must be looking for you right now. You didn’t just fall from the sky.” He gave me one last smile before disappearing into his bedroom. Even though I just met Stefan a week ago...I can honestly say he’s an amazing guy. He already cares about me even though he knows nothing about me. Every time I see him, my palms get sweaty, my heart starts pounding, and it feels like I can’t breath. I must be getting sick…

After I got back in the house, I quietly closed the door behind me. I started thinking about Stefan again and bumped into something. I snapped out of it and saw Sophie dressed and ready to leave. Sophie whispered to me, “What are you doing?” I answered, “Walking.” She slapped her hand over my mouth.

“Why are you out of bed?”

“I wasn’t sleep.”

“Stop skulking around. You could give somebody a heart attack.” Suddenly, we heard footsteps and Margret’s voice calling Sophie’s name. Joseph wasn’t far behind her.

“What’s going on?” He asked. “Nothing, guys I heard Emma down here so I came to check it out.”

“With full make-up on?” said Margret with her arms crossed. “I feel asleep with it on and didn’t wash it off.”

“Upstairs. Now.” Joseph demanded with a firm voice. “Dad, I just—“she was interrupted by Joseph. “Go!” Sophie quickly left my side and headed upstairs. When we heard the door slam, Margret made her way to me.

“Emma, did you get any sleep?”

“No.” I said shaking my head

“Alright let’s get back to bed.” Joseph said patting my back leading me to Derrick’s room. As soon as I got back in bed, Derrick woke up.

“What happened?”

“It’s fine son. Go back to sleep.” Joseph muttered to Derrick but he ignored him and turned back to me. “Where’d you go?” “Outside.”

“You went outside, Emma?” Joseph asked me in shocked. I nodded. What’s wrong with going outside? Derrick sat up fully awake and said, “What did you do?” I smiled remembering Stefan and the stars. “I looked at the stars.”

“Okay, honey, now’s not the time to be stargazing.” He said rubbing my arm. *Click* Joseph and I turned our heads only to see Derrick with a pen and notepad. Joseph rolled his eyes and bid us goodnight.

Derrick’s POV

“You had to be out there didn’t you?” I asked her. She gave me a very confused look. “Were they gonna beam you up?”

“Beam me?”

“Your people, dude! Your real family in the stars!” By the look on her face, I knew she still was confused. I sighed and turned facing the wall. I know she knows that I know. Her family is gonna beam her up and kill us all for taking her. You cant fool me bitch!

The Next Morning…

Margret’s POV

Well last night was interesting. First, I catch Sophie sneaking out, then I find out Emma isn’t sleeping, and Derrick just didn’t wake up. I swear that boy will sleep through anything. If somebody broke in last night, he wouldn’t even wake up. Taking me by surprise, Joseph wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my cheek. I smile.

“Coffee?” I asked. “Black. In fact, just toss me the can. I’ll chew on the grinds.” I sigh and hand him his mug. “You didn’t go back to sleep either?”

“No but at least Emma got some sleep.”

“You checked on her?” Joey shook his head. ‘No but the door was closed. I was afraid to make any noise.”

“Morning.” Derrick said trotting in kitchen. ‘I could use a cup a cup of joe.”

“You need a pick-me-up? Drink chocolate milk.” I demanded as I handed him the chocolate syrup. “Is Emma still sleep?”

“She’s not in her bed.”

“She’s not? Emma?” I called but didn’t get an answer. “Maybe she’s in the bathtub. She loves it in there.” Derrick joked. I rolled my eyes.  

Joey said, “I wonder if she wandered off again.” I looked at him confused. “When did she wander off before?” He opened his mouth to explain when Derrick interrupted him.

“Found her.” Joey and I quickly got up and looked put the window, into the backyard, only to see Emma sitting in the grass. I opened the back door and walked to her.

“Emma, what are you doing?”

“Waiting.”

I raised my eyebrows and said, “For what?” She shrugged and said, “To go home.”

Suddenly, the sprinklers came on but Emma didn’t move from her spot. “Tell me she’s not an alien.” I turned and gave Derrick a ‘shut up’ look and back at Emma, who seemed to enjoying herself.

ITS FINALLY HERE!!!! Its been a while since ive updated this story because I started focusing on As Long As You Love Me. This would have been up earlier today but I get distracted very easy lol sorry but enjoy :D P.S I would really appreciate if somebody could make a trailer for the story. I wouldnt come up with anything lol Comment on my wall or Inbox me is you want. I am always online because of the app haha.
