Paul didn't walk into work the next morning at his best. Having overslept and gotten there late. Everything just seemed out to irritate him. From his desk, he smelled the reek of coffee mixed with Patties flowery perfume. He had plenty of work to fill his day and was intending to push through the heavy urge of falling asleep to get it done.

Paul had worked his arse off to get up and get to work but John got to stroll in twenty minutes passed Paul's own late time. He managed to set aside ten minutes for lunch and headed for the break room.

Stu was there, staring into the microwave and watching to rotation of his food. Paul was just going to keep to himself but Stu popped his food out and turned to lean on the counter.

"So I'm not a fan of being between arguments" he muttered, swishing his food with his fork. Paul looked up from tea.

"Don't think anyone is really" Paul shrugged and opened one of the high cabinets.

"This whole situations got John pissy."

"Well John's a pissy person, ain't he?" Paul was not in the mood for this, by far. Stu pressed his lips together and scoffed.

"Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. You don't really know him anymore, do ya Paul?"

Paul tapped his finger at the edge of the  mug. "Think I know John well enough." He stayed for a few seconds to see if Stu would reply but with the silence, he left.

Paul's head was pounding but he leant it against the car door anyway. He was too tired to sit up in the car seat. John had been driving out to find some old school record shop he'd heard of but he'd gotten them lost. Paul knew John would deny it but he muttered it anyway.

"Yer lost John" he didn't even open eyes.

"M'not. You'd know that if ya picked up your head" John replied back snarly. Paul didn't raise his head.

"Don't need to. I know you too well John" Paul laughed a tiny bit. Head rattling against the car door.

"We're worlds apart, Paul" John laughed. Paul gave a knowing laugh that made John uncomfortable.
"Stop laughing like that. It's true" John was most likely glaring.

"Ok, pick a CD and mute it, put on the song ya like and I'll guess the artist and track" Paul put his hands under his head. John snorted.

"Fine than.....ok you can guess now" John sounded Confident.

"Well I'd guess the obvious 'Jailhouse Rock' but I'll bet ya that you're trying to throw me off with 'Just the way you are' by Billy Joel" Paul opened his eyes before John could change the song.

"Aye listen to that!" Paul rubbed his eyes and turned the volume on.

"Don't be smug, Paul. That just proves you know me music taste" John was most definitely bitter. Paul smiled and put his feet up on the dashboard.

"That's a pretty big part of ya" Paul whispered as he closed his eyes again. He knew John was about to mutter to himself.

Paul woke up from his slight daze about five minutes later but didn't open his eyes. He turned a little "John put yer glasses on"

He heard John scoff "how do you know I don't have them on, yer eyes are closed."

"I know you mate. That's how"

Paul could easily let that interaction with Stu drive him nuts for the rest of the day but he tried to keep it out of his mind.

The phone rang sharply, startling Paul but he went for it. "Apple Corps. This is Paul"

"Is John there?" A woman's voice asked.
