Paul had forgotten what it was like to be in a car with John. The reality of the situation was weighing them each down but the radio played in a quiet fuzz in hopes that it might calm them. Pauls eyelids were heavy but he put up with the burn of keeping them open to look down the road. He couldn't see a whole lot in the pitch black, he was relying on every bit of light they passed. Neither of them spoke since they'd been on the phone and Paul was explained the dire situation from Johns breathy voice. As Paul pulled around to the front doors of the hospital, John was already clasping the door handle incredibly hard that Paul was afraid he might open it before he stopped the car. It was in silent agreement that John would go inside while Paul would park. He was too nervous to ask if he should go in, he pretty much knew the answer anyway. The door closed before Paul could even look to Johns side. He watched him run inside through his rear view mirror, occasionally catching glaring headlights. He found a parking space after about ten minutes and he just pulled up and sat there. He unbuckled, turned the radio dial and tried to find something to occupy his hands with. Paul squinted at the neon signs and envied the people who were currently sleeping.

Johns shoes squeaked on the white tiling of the floor as he raced to the front desk. The bird there was looking at him expectingly and John tried to calm his rapid breathing. "Stuart Sutcliffe. I'm his friend-"
"Mr. Sutcliffe is up on the second floor, room 203. Visiting hours will be over quite soon though-"
John didn't bother to stay to hear her practice way of throwing him out. He shot throw many worried looking people and felt chills up his spine. He pressed the lift button and had a few seconds to rest as he waited. Once the lift opened, John shot in and grabbed one of the bars to keep himself up. The lift smelled slightly coopery, he noticed as he took drawn out breaths and pushed his forehead into the reflective wall. The lift music had driven him nuts by the time he got out of there.
The hallway was a long and tormenting dull white path. He continued to speed down until he ran right into a distraught Astrid. John grabbed her shoulders and rubbed down her arms to try to be soothing. She could obviously tell that John needed information now so while she was laboring for breath she gave his a relieving smile. "He's ok but the doctors aren't sure whats caused his collapse but he's had some bad headaches recently-"
she noticed John's panic and stopped herself "But he's fine. And he's just in there" she looked over her shoulder and pointed to his room.
"Thank God" John let her guide him into Stuart's room. Stuart was laying in one of those annoyingly glaring white beds but he had a calming smile on his face when John walked in. "Aye, Whats happened with ya?" John tried to be casual.
Stu shook his head. "Little under the weather, mate" he chuckled and leaned back comfortably on his bed. John and Astrid came around and took seats next to the bed.
"Cyn drive ya?" Astrid asked, turning to John.
"ah, no actually. Paul's out in the car" John mumbled with embarrassment that he wasn't sure why he had. Stu looked at him curiously and Astrid scoffed.
"He can come in, if he thinks he can't" She poked John in the shoulder. Stu looked like he might want to protest but Astrid stopped him with a fierce glare. " Call him and tell him to get in here" She nodded. John wasn't sure he really wanted to drag Paul where he wasn't comfortable but Astrid seemed set on this so he pulled out his phone and stood. He walked over to the corner of the room as the phone rang on the other line.
"Hello?" Pauls voice was confused, John could see him curling up in the car seat with the radio on.
"Astrid wants you to come inside." John sighed and ran his hand down his face. The line was quiet for a few minutes until John heard some shuffling and the sounds of Paul turning the car off and shutting the door.
