John stopped in front of the doors and decided to lite a cigarette. More to stall than for actual enjoyment. He leaned back on the wall and dragged it for as long as he could. He only picked his head up as George walked up. He took one look at John and held his hand out for a cigarette. John made a small lip curl as he handed one over. George leaned up next to him and puffed slowly. And George was doing it again. He wasn't going to ask John what was bothering him, he was gonna wait and see if John was gonna tell him himself. John ran his tongue across a crevice on his lip and shook his head.
"I've got to end things with Yoko, today." John tried to make the comment off-hand. George turned his cheek and looked at him.
"Bout time, I think." George shrugged. He knew there was more.
"So I've gotta to tell Paul. I'm not sure how that's gonna blow over." John sighed and ran a hand down his pant leg. George rolled his eyes and straightened his back.
"Well, I can offer no helpful advice for that, can I?" George scoffed. John snorted and bumped their shoulders.
"Sorry lad."
"I'm sure there won't be a problem for you though." George said with a tiny bite in his tone. But he didn't seem too angry. "He's got it bad for ya."
John took a smug smirk at that and rolled his cigarette around. "Think that's why I kept him around." John snickered.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~John was shifting uncomfortably in Mimi's car while he waited for Ivan to finish up in the store. He played around with the radio dials and hung his feet out the window. He adjusted the rear view mirror as his humming along became full out belting. Ivan made his way back into the car with an armful of CDs. John quirked his eyebrow as he watched him shuffle through them. Although, Ivan looked up and caught sight of someone right about to pass them.
"Oi! Paul?" Ivan shoved his head out the window and the lad stopped and walked over. He smiled at Ivan with chubby cheeks.
"Ello Ivan." Paul stood on his tiptoes and gave John a look. But John just looked back. Ivan sighed and spoke.
"Paul, that's John. He's a mate of mine. Plays the guitar like you do, actually-"
John took his feet down from the ledge and gained interest. He put his chin on the palm of his hand and clicked his tongue. Just as he did so, the radio had faded into 'come go with me'. "You any good?"
Paul didn't look eager to talk to him any but he nodded. "Yes, I am." It was the only thing Paul was ever confident in.
"Oh well, Ivan's never mentioned ya before." John said slyly as he sunk back down into his chair. Ivan gave him a cold stare and turned back to Paul.
"Sure I have. John just doesn't listen."
Paul cut him off with a shake of his head. "S'fine. John mustn't be any good either if we're going by that standard." Paul rose his eyebrow and jetted his chin out to grin. John snorted and looked back over at Paul.
"Get in."
Ivan rolled his eyes as if to keep in the more obvious verbal scoff. Paul would never-
"Alright." Paul reached his hand out to the car handle, pulled it open and hopped in. As John pulled away, Ivan held back his ache to gasp. John drove sloppily up to his home. Mimi wasn't in and he was going to take advantage of it. The three of them got out and followed John in. As Ivan looked back out the window at the car, he remembered that John shouldn't technically be driving alone with just a permit. He rolled his eyes as they got upstairs.
