Jane fumbled around her house, throwing her hair up and and flipping through a few magazines then laying them across the counter. Biting her thumb nail and flipping the pages with her other hand. Her eyes landed happily on a delightful long wedding gown. Paul set his mug of tea near the right edge of the magazine and started rifling through the kitchen. Jane tilted her head back and watched him through the corner of her eyes, the only sound being the flipping of the magazines.
"Paul?" She mumbled, mouth rubbing against her hair. Paul looked up from his kneeled position in front of the cupboard.
"Yes?"
Jane grabbed the magazine and turned to him, motioned for him to stand. "Look, this dress is lovely and I'm thinking I need to get my dress soon cause we've only got, what five months?" She pretended like she hadn't been counting down the days. Paul looked down at the magazine and nodded but his eyes were in the corner and not looking at the dress. He shifted his weight onto his right leg.
"It's lovely and that" he mumbled but Jane was quickly heated up, setting the magazine down harshly on the counter. She twirled herself back to face the other side, mumbling things to herself.
"Why do I continue to try with you? Lovely and that" she mumbled sarcastically and put her hand on the small of her back. "Five months until we get married Paul! Married! I love you and it's happening. So when you're at work you need to think about that" she wiped carefully under her eyes and picked up her bag.
"Jane-!"
Jane came back, leaning over her stomach and hauling a high heel on her foot. "I have another audition at six, so I'll see you at seven" she stood up and wiggled her foot around, she turned and slammed the door behind her. Paul flickered his eyes from where she had been standing and back to the magazines. In a heat of anger, he thrust his hand on the table and swept them off the counter. As they fell to the ground, he put his bag on his shoulder and left.
The dial tones and shuffling noises from the office were actually quite comforting for Paul as he entered early. Pete Best shuffled over to fax a few things. Paul sat down and wheeled close to his desk with a heavy sigh and started to work. "You ok?" He he heard Pete ask. He turned his chair and smiled.
"I'm fine, yeah."
Pete nodded, patted him on the back and left. Just then, John trudged in with Cynthia right behind him. "Remember it's at six John!" she ducked her head into the office for a few seconds before turning right back to head out. John sighed and leaned on Pauls desk. Paul looked up curiously and tapped his pen against the desk.
"What's at six?"
"I've got to clean out our old storage unit" Johns voice was whiny and pouty. "Cyn and Julian are moving to a flat a few blocks over." He picked at the chipping desk paint.
"Oh, m'sorry John-"
"No, I'm fine. Just not really a fun thing to do with my night" John shrugged. Paul felt bad for him, he wanted to be angry at him for transferring but he didn't even want to bring that up again. He wasn't even sure John had spoken about it to Brian yet.
"Well, I could come with you-"
"Oh thank god cause I really didn't want to go" John grinned. "And we can listen to music on the way there!" John said before turning back to sit at his own desk.
George walked in shortly after with a small smile on his face. Paul went to greet him but Pattie shouted from across the room "happy Birthday George!"
"Ta, Pattie" he snickered and turned to Paul.
"Oi, Happy birthday Geo!" Paul reached over and tapped George's arm.
