Jane let her coat curl around her hair and sipped at the low quality tea. Paul was shuffling around his desk area for a final search before giving up for the night. But again, he came up short.

Jane leaned over the desk "I can't believe you lost it. Paul, does our engagement mean nothing to you?"

Paul was burying his hand further into the small wooded drawer. "Jane, love. I didn't mean to lose it"

"Why did you take it off in the first place?"

"Well I had to reach into the copier and-"

"Use your other hand!" Jane stomped over to the other side of the desk to help Paul. Together they looked around for another solid ten minutes before Jane was huffing again.

Paul leaned his hand on the desk to pull himself up only it didn't land on the desk but the stretched out keyboard. So Paul's hand slipped and instead of pulling himself up, he knocked himself and the keyboard back down.

Jane watched him fall before rushing to help him. They heard laughter from the back of the office as they got off the ground. Paul thought they were the last ones still here, this was quite embarrassing. Especially since the laughter belonged to John.

"Aye you seen Paul's ring by chance?" Jane went straight past an introduction for her desired question.

John seemed to flinch for a half second before answering. "No, haven't seen it."

"Why are you still in?" Paul asked before Jane could ask anything else. Johns cheeks went pink.

Before John could provide his answer, Brian came out from the back office, hair messed up and tying up his tie again. "John?-"

"Brian!" John shot over to Brian as Jane and Paul stood there, mouths agape.

"Give a final look and meet me in the car" Jane decided she was uncomfortable with this and didn't second guess her decision to leave.  She was almost laughing by the time she got to her car.

Paul rubbed his hand against his chin oddly. He just sort stared at them. Brian was completely mortified.

John cracked his knuckles and coughed.

"Paul, this is highly unprofessional and I'd greatly appreciate it if you didn't share this-"

"Oh my god...you two-? Wow" Paul was about to promise he wouldn't tell but the words wouldn't come out.

"Paul, a minute?" John asked before not so delicately dragging Paul into the outside hall. As soon as the door shut, John put his hands into his pockets and leaned against the window.

"You're sleeping with your boss?" Paul fiddled with his tie so he'd have somewhere to put his hands. John nodded.

"Broke it off this morning actually.." John laughed and scratched the back of his neck.

"What's the end goal here, John? From what I heard from you before...you said you weren't gay. Not that that was something I believed-"

"Stop talking like you have a right to be involved! We're only having this conversation because of what you've seen, Paul"

Paul clamped his mouth shut again. He was inserting his input where it didn't belong and he'd have to learn that John didn't want to hear it anymore.

"I can't have anymore people in the office knowing about this. It's ended this time, I'm sure of it" John rubbed his forehead.

"Who else Knows?" Paul asked with wide eyes.

"George-"

"George?!" Paul shrieked.
