Stuart entered the office with his head held high and Astrid on his arm. She was pushing her bangs to the side and nervously pulling at her jacket. He stopped, so she'd pull back before they got to their desks. "You can relax, Astrid."
She smiled thoughtfully and pushed him to his seat and took her own. As she pulled herself closer and dusted her skirt off. Across from her, Pattie tapped her pencil to get her attention. Her smile was curious as she tilted her chin down.
"How is he? He'll try to be funny if we ask him."
Astrid took a glance back at him and flipped her hair around. "He's fine, the doctors said he's gonna be fine."
Pattie licked her lips and retracted her pencil. "Astrid, are you ok?"
She cocked her head to the side and shook it. "Stressed. You know? They didn't seem to know the exact problem-"
"It'll be ok. Stuart's fine, look at em'" Astrid giggled and pointed her pencil over her shoulder. Astrid turned over to find Stuart engaged in mindless play argument with John. She watched them over for a few seconds and turned back.
"Yeah, yeah. I know, I'm just going to be paranoid for a few days." She shrugged. Pattie nodded.
"So, Yoko coming in today or has she been...?" Astrid twirled her pencil around without say the words. Pattie turned back to her computer.
"John's had plenty of breakouts like she did and he's still propped against his desk. She's coming in." She said flatly. Astrid was going to let it go but she reared up again.
"The situation is quite ridiculous if you ask me. She was hysterical. Should've seen her when I walked her out. This day is just going to be a lot of tension."
Astrid giggled at Patties distressed tone of voice. "Oh but you love it, don't ya?"
Pattie brightly turned from her computer again. "It'll be an entertaining day for sure!" She waved a file folder and got up from her desk. Astrid waved cheekily as she passed her. Pattie strutted over and leaned over Paul's desk. She batted her eyelashes and tapped the toe of her shoe on the carpet.
"Ello, love....tell me what ya know!" She forced her forearms forward and waited desperately. Paul almost flinched and shot his eyes around. "John took ya for a walk?" She leaned even closer and whispered. John strained his eyes to look at her.
"Yeah he did. He was a tad wigged out, you could say....about Yoko and all." Paul's voice was that fuzzy tone that she didn't quite like when she wanted to gossip with him.
"Alright than love. I'll talk to George instead." She threw her nose in the air and turned out. John clicked his tongue and found Paul's eyes. He gave him a suspicious smirk.
'Talk to me Paulie.' He mouthed and jetted his chin out. Paul shook his head and playfully turned away. Stuart caught this and his relieved grin turned sour. He pushed himself out of his seat and shoved off towards the break room. Paul finally met John's eyes to question him.
John reluctantly got up and shuffled towards his desk. "You were never good at speaking with your eyes. So talk to me darling."
Paul bit the inside of his cheek and gave up on being silent. "Is Yoko coming in?"
"Pattie was up here, wasn't she? Should've asked her, huh? Doesn't matter anyway, no one knows.." John shrugged dismissively but Paul didn't look pleased. John was already irritated.
"Haven't been on a date yet and this is starting..." John rolled his eyes. Paul slammed his pencil down.
"Fuckin hell John!" He started, but quickly stopped when he felt the offices prying eyes. "It's quite intimidating for me. What with not only Brian but Yoko here."
