14 - Fortunate

Stephanie, Lesley and Vanessa returned to their studies at the University of London once again. After their fifth day back to classes, Stephanie was once again remembering her vacation with Liam.

Students filled up the classroom, ready to start the lecture on modern composition. When Stephanie entered her Advance Piano class, everyone was staring at her. They were still thinking about the shooting in Spain during winter break. Some kept staring, almost as if they could also feel the terror of that day. Once she sat down, Stephanie kept her eyes on the composition she completed during break. As usual, the professor was preparing for today's class.

After checking every note to be perfect, Stephanie started to drift into her memories of Liam at their trip to Spain.

She remembered spending a day at the hotel. She had played him a song that will eventually be on My Summer Sensation's new album. Afterwards, they decided to go to some private piano performances at the best theaters in Madrid. Then they had dinner and went to a different hotel in Madrid. The rest of the week they went to private galleries in the city's best museums, attended to some concerts and a runway show.

In all the events they attended, she noticed him looking at her. Stephanie would just smile at him and he would return one back. His smile remained in her mind as the professor called the class to start.

"Okay class. Today you will be scheduling to meet someone to go through your compositions. The person who is going to go through is a volunteer. They volunteer from a music agency. The volunteer may be someone you have heard by now. Remember this assignment will be due as a performance at the London Philharmonic Orchestra in the Spring. Now let's review how to balance the tempo in piano compositions."

After the professor finished the lecture, he pulled out a sign-up sheet on his desk. Stephanie walked up and signed-up for the 6pm slot. She was planning to go through her internship at a record label, known as Cee Records, and then to the composition review.

When she walked back to her seat, she was working on a new song. A group of students walked up to the professor.

"Mr. Williams, may we have the opportunity to listen to My Summer Sensation's piano pieces? It would be great for the class to learn what other students are working on," asked one of the students.

"I don't know, you will need to ask Ms. Flores," concluded Mr. Williams pointing at Stephanie.

Stephanie recognized what he was doing for her. He was giving her the opportunity on whether she was ready to expose the music her and her cousins were working on. The group of students went directly to Stephanie, who was now unable to concentrate on her composition.

"Hey, we were wondering if you could share the album your band created for the auction," voiced one of her peers.

"I would like to, but I don't know when the time would be appropriate, since we got lectures..." Stephanie responded.

"Well, do you guys play some where in the weekends, like a pub or club?" another student asked.

"We play acoustically at the Starbucks down the street. We play there on Saturdays. But our next live show will be on Valentines day here. Look out for flyers I will be posting soon," she informed them.

"That sounds good! By the way some of the students who went to the auction loved your performance!" cried another student.

"Thanks!" Stephanie smiled just when class ended.

While she was walking towards her other class--located at the other end of campus--a girl with thin black hair approached her.

"Hey, I was wondering if you're Stephanie from My Summer Sensation?" asked the girl.
