Lesley strummed the guitar's strings, running through the melody of 'Fresh Cut Roses'. She played with her guitar, although they finished recording all the sound. But she continued to play to remind her the lyrics to the last songs in order to record them. She waited for Vanessa to plug in all the music equipment, brought back to life the computers and mixers, headphones and microphones. Vanessa gazed down and started to push, twist, slide the buttons on her apparatus. She fluctuated the tempo on their microphones and stereo; she changed things like speed of light.

The way she prepared everything for the last two songs in their first album to be recorded reminded her of her first date with Harry. After she demonstrated her DJ skills to Harry, the way she earned her name, DJ 'Nessa. That made her smile and was to electrified record their first album at Cee Records in London.

She felt enthralled, ready to showcase many people their music.

The eldest one pulled out a massive packet to each of her cousins. The cover page was titled 'Part X: February 14 - The Last Day'. This session was the last one for producing their album. Before christmas break they had recorded all of their songs, including the vocals, guitar and bass riffs, some saxophone tunes and all of Vanessa's mixes. With that collection of music, they needed to solve the musical puzzle with the last two pieces of the jigsaw: 'Fresh Cut Roses' and 'Flare'.

"So today we will finalize recording our new album. Alexia sent these packets for us today, so review for a couple minutes and we'll start warming up our vocals and then we will do the real deal," Stephanie announced.

After a few minutes of intense concentration, as if studying earlier for finals, Lesley bolted to the other side of the studio's glass, where all the singing would take place. Vanessa sprinted behind her, humming quick tune of 'Fresh Cut Flowers'.

The studio's flung open and the girl's new roommate, Brenton dropped onto the leather lounge chair. He pressed the intercom button. "Hey mates, sorry I'm late!"

"We're just getting started," Lesley responded.

The three brunettes grabbed a pair of black studio headphones and walked to the middle where three studio microphones stood facing each other in a triangle form.

"We're going to start with a vocal warm-up and then we'll record," Stephanie informed.

"One... Two... Three... Breath in... Breath out... Let's repeat again," Stephanie coached.

"Okay, now message your jaws with the heel of your hands. Open your mouth as if you were saying 'Ahhhh'."

"Good, let's start to increase the intensity of our vocals. One... Two... Three..." And the three work on escalating and decreasing their voices.

Lesley then said, "Let's do lip and tongue trills. Our voices will sound even better."

The girls rolled their "r"'s at the very end of the drill.

When they finished with their vocal warm up, Brenton intercom. "You forgot to cool down."

"Oh, thanks!" The three said.

The three girls started to hum. The soft vibrations calmed down their voices, jaws and shoulders as they hum from a higher tempo to a lower one.

The three then faced on another with the packet of lyrics in front of them in the music sheet stand. Afterwards Lesley held a thumbs up towards Brenton, the queue to start the beat of 'Fresh Cut Flowers' and to start the recording their voices.

The girls counted eight counts in their head when the sound of the drums started. At the second count the bass began to play. In the next count Lesley was going to start the song along when the first riff of the guitar would also show up. Afterwards, in the pre-chorus Stephanie began to sing while the other two harmonized together.

After her part the guitar sprang more alive and the saxophone appeared throughout the song. The upcoming verse was Vanessa's, who was nodding with the beat of the drums.

Then where the song seemed to end with the clash of the cymbals, Vanessa's mixed tune appeared like a soft breeze.

"I'll cut you out of my life like some fresh cut flowers..." The singers ended the song with that lyric.

"Great job! I can't believe you're done with recording everything!" Brenton exclaimed as he entered the recording room.

The girls removed their heavy microphones, as if removing the weigh of finishing their album, However the relief and all the stress of making their first album was rewarding,

"Thanks for the help you've given this past week!" Stephanie said. The other two nodded with appreciation.

"You're very welcome, girls! It was nice to see the process of creating audible art."

Lesley with no hesitation lay her honey-colored instrument in its bed and clicked her guitar case shut. Vanessa unplugged the wires and cables and warped them up and packed her mixer in a black case. Stephanie collected the packets and returned to the studio room with Brenton.

On the computer she pulled up the two songs, ready for Vanessa to layer all the sounds into one song. When Vanessa returned she opened GarageBand and began adding the lyrics with the music. Stephanie returned to the next room to help her cousin packing. She then click to play how it would sound. Vanessa speed to the next file containing the last song ever recorded in their first album: 'Flare'.

She worked her magic once more as the two girls continued to pack all the equipment into their Audi.

The beat from the first song appeared. And when they finished listening to the song, they played the next song while their hearts palpitated. Once the heard the last song for the first time they started jumping on their heels and hugging one another.

Vanessa stopped. "Let me add the songs into a disc," she said as she pulled up a file with all fourteen songs that were saved in a USB port. Afterwards she popped a disc to commence the syncing of the final album. As rapidly the songs finished syncing into the CD she opened up a large envelop, so she could send one to Alexia, just in case the one mailed at Cee Records was lost.

"Okay, okay, Brenton. Thank you for everything. Your help is much appreciated!" Vanessa expressed.

He then glanced at his watch and yelled, "You guys better hurry! It's already six! The dance starts in an hour by the time you pack everything up, get ready and get there!"

6:57 PM

"Stephanie, are you ready?" Lesley whispered at her. While Stephanie replayed the piano keys in her mind she nodded and ranked the volume up on the stereo.

Lesley smiled and stepped in front of the microphone with her illuminating guitar.

Vanessa stood looking right into the red curtain. What if I miss up a beat? Maybe that's why women don't DJ. They don't cut for it. She thought.

Beside her Lesley smiled at her, assuring her through her gaze that everything would be fine. Someone on Lesley's right gave them a thumbs up and signaled to move the curtains for My Summer Sensation.

Lesley, Vanessa and Stephanie took a deep breath and the slow movement of the curtains disclosed their bright faces to the crowd.

That very heart beat second, the pale brunette removed the microphone and yelled, "How's everyone's tonight?"

The university students chanted their name, whistled, clapped and woo-oohed.

"Awesome!" Vanessa responded as she prep the first beat, ready on a touch of a button.

"Tonight we'll cover various songs from the list complied by you!" Stephanie said while she waited by the glowing black piano.

As Vanessa was going to start the beat of one of their covers, a flashed bombard them. Their eyes unfocused for a second. They couldn't put a face but the they saw a platinum haired woman that began to walk out the auditorium along with her notebook and cannon. The girls shrugged their shoulders and began the dance as if it was nothing.
