[Same Day]
Lesley stared at the bright screen of her new mobile and remembered after she left her cousins that night. She never said goodbye to them and her sister properly.
The gleaming lights of the van shot her. She stopped to cover her eyes, more like to dry her eyes from her tears. In that moment she felt that she was blind, but she was able to listen the last bit of the argument.
"Are you kidding me?" Brian yelled.
"No, sorry, but we have to let you go. Cee Records told me that it is part of the contract deal," Sandra reminded.
When Lesley heard that she hurried to the van. Brian shrugged Sandra's hands off his shoulder as he caught sight of the new bandmate. he glares at her because it reminded him of the new drummer of his ex-bandmates.
Lesley froze in place, feeling that she wasn't suppose to be there, but Chris opened the van's doors and waved at her to come in. He got out quickly to help her with her two bags as she stepped in.
In that moment she felt that she for once belonged with them.
Lesley was about to remember looking back to her London home, but someone interrupted her.
"What's wrong?" The new drummer asked as he sat next to her on the leather couch.
"I finally understand how you felt for Vanessa when you two broke up. I want to call them," Lesley responded.
"Don't worry about it." Jared told her. "When the time comes you will talk to her as if it were nothing."
"Nothing?" Lesley snapped right up. "They should at least know where I am."
"Sorry, I didn't mean it that way," Jared stood up as well.
"What's going on?" The blonde guitarist asked as he walked in with two alcoholic drinks.
"Were just talking," Jared simply said and stepped away.
"Now I see why your cousin left him." Chris sat right next to her. "I don't understand why he's in the band. It will be hard to forget about losing a great friend."
"I know how you feel," Lesley added as she stuffed her phone back on her black leather jacket.
"We sound like sad puppies. Here ya go." He handed her a bottle.
"But we're going to perform soon?" Lesley stared at him as she raised one of her eyebrows.
"It helps with the nerves." He took a long swing of Jack Daniels. Lesley followed after. The cold liquid burned her throat, but after another swing it refreshed her mind.
Lesley felt her muscles on her back relax. She wanted to tell Chris that he was right, but his eyes were closed. Instead of bothering him, she gulped more of the golden brown liquid.
The sensation returned and she was so intrigued at Chris's stillness. She observed him as his lips began to form a smile, so looked down at his hands. He opened his eyes and frowned when he noticed her.
"It must be difficult to leave them. I remember staying apart from Common Colors. it was when we had to perform at Louis's wedding. Remember?"
"Yeah, it was because your father was sick," Lesley added.
"That was a messed-up lie. My father has been dead for three years," he said as he watched the ceiling.
Lesley wanted to say something, but didn't find the right words to communicate to him. So she took the tip of the bottle to her mouth to take another swing of it.
