15 - Return

Saturday March 8, 6:00 PM

A month passed since My Summer Sensation performed at the Valentine's day concert at their university. The three girls were preparing for their small performance at a new location, Flare's Bar and Tavern. The bar permitted them a ten minute performance, since they were new. On the first night of the performance some of Stephanie's peers showed up.

Once they had their outfits for the night, their new roommate, Brenton, gave them a warm hug and they all left.

As Stephanie drove she remembered the last time she had contacted One Direction. Zayn, who gave her Liam's phone number, changed. It was like he forgot to separate the girls from One Direction. She continued to wonder why he stopped resenting them. Once again the same conversation about Zayn's new attitude towards them appeared.

"So Steph... Zayn pretty much gave you Liam's number?" asked Vanessa, while she crossed her arms.

"Yes! I told you that like the thousandth ti--" Stephanie replied.

"Then why haven't you called him yet?" interrupted Vanessa.

"I want to give him some time. I'm not desperate like you."

"Okay, I was just wondering. Jeez," Vanessa, at the passenger seat, glanced at Lesley and lifted her eyebrows in disapproval. Lesley nodded.

After parking their car and getting their guitars, piano and DJ set ready on stage, they were ready to reveal some new songs. Once they were finished and ready, the tavern had filled up. People, particularly high school and college students were staring at the trio. Vanessa wore her black headphones and switched the sound on. The beat started slow and swiftly. Lesley strummed the electric guitar as Stephanie began to yell "Are you ready?!" to the crowd. Everyone responded back with yeas. A blond girl screamed their name, took a picture and jotted some notes. Stephanie started singing their new song. As they played and sang, everyone jumped and danced.

The manager of the tavern stood and observed them, amazed that My Summer Sensation could get people so hyped up in one song.

"How long have these girls been around?" asked Elena--the tavern manager--to the lead singer of Common Colors while My Summer Sensation played their second song.

"American girls studying at U of L," responded Sandra from Common Colors. She returned to observe at them, wondering what sort of magic they possessed to electrify a crowd.

"They still surprise me with their talent," commented Elena.

"I gotta agree. They're my competition and I--" but Sandra stopped talking.

The moment when Sandra was about to finish her sentence, Liam, Louis and Zayn showed up. Sandra had never seen them up close before.

Stephanie, Lesley and Vanessa's expressions on stage were as if it was the first time they saw them too. Stephanie paused, luckily it was her breath break in the song, and Lesley and Vanessa started to understand the change in Zayn; his eyes were clearer and they beamed, as if the sun rays were illuminating through pine trees after a rainstorm.

Vanessa's hands continued to move on her DJ apparatus after noticing it was the two of the five members of One Direction. But the doors of the tavern opened again. Harry, with his bandana on, and Niall, with a leather jacket, walked to where the other three stood in the crowd.

The melody stopped and the crowd roared, clapped and whistled for more. It had been twenty minutes since they started their performance. The girls looked at one another and smiled. Vanessa had forgotten how Harry stared. The last time she saw him was when she had showed him her magical DJ skills.

Stephanie welcomed everyone at My Summer Sensation's second performance at the tavern. "The last song is a cover of various songs. We edited it and hope you all enjoy it!"

As the rhythm of the new song played, Stephanie's and Lesley's voice soothed the tavern. The soft beats had everyone jumping and nodding. Stephanie sang the verse as Lesley hummed. Harry kept looking at Vanessa, remembering the night she showed him her DJ moves. The boys danced and jumped as the song came to an end.

Stephanie, Vanessa and Lesley waved at the cheering crowd and removed their belongings for the next band to perform. After they had finished, they were about stay and hear other bands. Tonight they would listen to Common Colors for the first time.

Sandra walked up on stage along with her black electric guitar. Her hair was long, wavy and purple. Then another person walked beside her and stood in front with his black bass guitar, known as Chris. Brian, the drummer went behind them and sat in front of his drum set. He said the band's name.

She then spoke, "We will be playing Teenagers by My Chemical Romance!"

The crowd roared because they loved their performances. As the sang the audience jumped.

Vanessa was exhausted from their performance. She pulled Lesley to the restrooms and asked her about One Direction's surprising appearance.

"Maybe Stephanie called them over," suggested Lesley.

"Perhaps... But Stephanie was dumbfounded when they showed up," said Vanessa.

"Let's go back and see what they have to say."

"Yeah, but we should leave. People are asking for their autographs and pictures."

Once they left the restrooms, Stephanie was standing among the band members. Her body depicted as if she found out she was a millionaire. While she conversed with them she glanced at her two cousins as if they were rocks. Vanessa grinned because she understood perfectly why Stephanie was like that. She waved her hands once she got to where they were sitting. Vanessa and Lesley stood and glanced down at the band.

Their curls fell onto their shoulders, mesmerizing the guys. All three of the girls had black beanies.

"Your performance was wicked!" exclaimed Niall, smiling.

"Well obviously!" cried Liam. He was glancing at the girls for a long time, particularly Stephanie. Liam had to make sure that he could get all of his five senses to record My Summer Sensation presence before fame. The girls were like fresh strawberries ready to be picked.

"We're planning to depart soon," said Lesley, who was trying to focus on Common Colors.

"Really? I was hoping to listen to this band, Common Colors. They're incredible," Stephanie said.

"But we're starving, Steph," Vanessa begged.

"We haven't had dinner either, may we join you three?" Harry asked.

Liam nodded afterwards. Stephanie felt pressured. Her stomach begged her for food. And Liam's presence pulled her into the idea of having dinner too.

"Diner it is!" Stephanie grabbed her jacket and walked along with them behind her. At the reach of the glass doors a blond student walked up to her. She gestured at My Summer Sensation with her notepad.

"Hello, my name is Carol. I'm writing an article about you, My Summer Sensation. I was wondering if I could have an interview with you three tonight?"

"Sorry but we we're heading out for the night, maybe--"

"Yeah! You don't mind joining dinner with us?" said Zayn.

Stephanie looked back to her cousins and they did as well. They wondered if Zayn was beginning to detest them again.

"I appreciate the offer but I was asking--" Carol argued.

"In that case they said some other time," interrupted Niall, opening the door, ready to leave.

"Never mind. C'mon Carol," Stephanie stated as she left out Flare's Tavern and Bar.

The rest followed her as if they were heading out into a new country.
