The Train Ride

As we head to the train station, I see a bunch of people crowding the entrance to the train. Peeta and I both know they are only here because of us. It is incredibly overwhelming to see the large crowd. Peeta sees I am uneasy and he gives me a peck on the lips and says it will be over soon.

Boarding the train Peeta, blindfolds me so I cant see where we are going. “Are we going to another-” I cut myself off because I know that was a stupid question. Peeta just laughs at me and I don’t blame him.

Peeta ordered a room on the train so I know we are going to a district that is not near twelve. As we enter the room I see a huge bed, I immediately jump on it. “Why don’t you just rest for a little, it is going to take us a while to get there?” Peeta says caressing my cheek.

“Why do I look tired to you?” I jokingly ask Peeta.

“No, I just meant-” Before Peeta can finish I cut him off. “I know I was only joking, goodness Peeta.” I say laughing. I mean I just jumped on the bed for crying out loud. When Peeta isn’t looking I take one of the pillows and I swing it at his waist. Before I can get another swing in, Peeta turns around and grabs my wrists and says, “Now you are going to regret that, Katniss.”

“Oh, really?” I say antagonizing him. Before I could say anything else, Peeta lays me down on the bed and starts to kiss my neck. I just find this so hysterical and I can’t stop laughing.

“Why are you laughing?” Peeta says with an estranged look on his face.

“This is how you get me back, teasing me with your sexy self?” I say still laughing.

“Who said I was teasing you?” He says as he pulls my shirt off pulling me in tighter than we could ever get. I love when he does this. The sexy look suits him. Our breaths start getting deeper and deeper and suddenly Peeta pulls away. I look straight into his eyes. I hold back my tears for his sake. His eyes are drifting away with every second that passes.

“Stay with me, Peeta, please.” I plead. I grab his wrists and he shoves me away. I put my shirt on and I notice he isn’t thrashing around or calling me a mutt, so I am relieved about that. I turn to see him with his face in his knees. I walk back over and sit down next to him. I start rubbing his back, when he finally talks. “The morphling from Six jumped in front of the mutt to save me, real or not real?” “Real. And she painted a picture on your cheek before she died.” I say in gratitude of the morphling for doing that.

“I’m sorry, Katniss.” He says with tears in his eyes.

“Don’t be sorry, please don’t. Do you want to talk about it?” Even when Peeta is feeling upset he still wants to comfort me. He shakes his head and I respect that. “Why don’t we get some sleep, okay?” I say giving him a kiss on his forehead.

“Only if I have you next to me.” Peeta says and his eyes widen.

“Always,” I say giving him a kiss.
