I guess I fell back asleep, because when I wake up I see Peeta’s glistening blue eyes watching over me.
“Morning, love,” he says giving me a kiss on my nose.
“Good Moring,” I say with a half- hearted smile. I notice his eyes look strained, but they aren’t drifting away from me, so I know he isn’t having a flashback. “You didn’t sleep at all last night,” I say feeling guilty. I know the only reason he didn’t sleep last night was because he wanted to comfort me if I had another nightmare.
“That’s not entirely true, I got a whole five minutes of sleep,” he says with a slight laugh. I can’t help but laugh either. “Why don’t you get dressed and I will go make my love some breakfast.” I agree whole-heartedly because I am starving. I get dressed in a simple white t-shirt and a pair of grey sweatpants accompanied by pir of kixed-matched socks.
Peeta greets me downstairs with a passionate kiss. “You do not know how much I love you.” He says as he breaks away from the kiss. I simply reply with, “Oh, yes I do. I love you.” We both smile, but then my stomach growls and Peeta says laughing, “Well, I won’t keep you from your food any longer." I smile looking at the table filled with pancakes, muffins, and cheese buns.
“Katniss?” Peeta says seductively.
“Yes, love.” I say jokingly and adding weight to love.
“I was thinking-” before Peeta could finish his sentence, who other than Haymitch walks in and surprisingly he is sober. “I smelled food, so I invited myself over.” Peeta and I are used to Haymitch walking in uninvited. He is pretty much like a father to me and I have him to thank for keeping Peeta and me alive in not only the first Hunger Games, but the second Hunger Games and during the Rebellion. He thinks I don’t know that he pulled some strings to sell the whole ‘star-cross lovers’ idea. Butwho knows, if he hadn't, where would Peetqa and I satnd with each other.
“Well, as I was saying, I think we should get away from Twelve for a while. You know, just you and me.”
“I would love that.” I say shoving food I mouth. “What did you have in mind?”
“Really sweetheart, do you really think Peeta is going to tell you?” Haymitch jumps in, again. "And don't talk with your damn mouth full of food, either."
“Haymitch is right, for onece. So don’t you worry your pretty little mind about it?”
“Fine,” I say leaning over to Peeta about to give him a kiss, “but you will be sorry.” I say whispering in his face.
“Now you’re going to be sorry for teasing me like that.” Peeta says as he starts to chase me around the house.
“Alright, I think it’s time for me to leave.” I take a sigh of relief as Haymitch gets up to leave. Peeta finally gets up to me. He grabs me behind the waist and spins me around. When my lips touch his, it feels like magic.
