When I was young
I told myself this thing:
"I can never understand him"
And because I can't read him, I said:
"I can never figure out what's up with him."

Growing up,
I started to see how he smiles
And what those fake curves mean.
I started to look deep within him
And what his heart was telling him.

With everything I've seen and have felt,
I realized how strong his heart is built.
He can hide the pain but his eyes speak of everything.
He can lie to those who are around him
But not to the heart that sees right through him.

He loves in a very special and unique way;
He nags and nags and nags but it's his way
To show how much he cares for me;
He may get mad easily but never stays long that way
Because he loves me, us, whatever the situation may be.

He may sometimes feel being left out
But I will never leave him out.
He may be unexplainable at times
But he is dependable at all times.
He may not say it directly,
But his actions speak for his true feelings.

All these years,
He became a great role model to me;
He showed how love works as an action verb day by day.
He loved in the most unconditional way.
He made me see how a Dad's love works in reality.

And as numbers continues to add on his age,
As the calendars starts to lose each page,
He continues to show love and lets it overflow.
He continues to give his all and let his sweat flow.
He continues to awe me as I say:
"Dad, I love you each and every day."
