"Dad, I'm really sorry. I honestly did not mean the things I said earlier." I explain as we sit in the front room of the mansion with Dad sipping on his tea and Mum looking away every time I look at her. I honestly want to die.
It took all of my strength to get out of my penthouse and face the world. Like yesterday, the paparazzi were still there but I ignored them and walked straight to my car. My eyes still burn of all the crying and tears and I feel like I am still not strong enough to make an appearance in the office. I am not sure if I'll be able to hold the tears.
It feels so strange. I am jobless, the richest woman on Earth is jobless. As bizarre as it sounds, its true. Unfortunately. I wonder how long it is before I am devoid of that title. The company has some huge debts to pay and I'm definitely making sure its all in Nathan's part. If you want it, bitch you take it all.
"If you are here for the sorry-s, then you may leave already." Dad answers in a cold voice and then sets his cup down, looking at me straight, "What has happened to you? This is not my daughter, this is not my Ally. First thing, my daughter would have never been so stupid, secondly, she'd have never said she sold it all by her own wish and thirdly even after all that is happening, she wouldn't have shed a tear. My daughter would get back up, dust off the dirt from her sleeves and move on. Far stronger and braver than earlier. By the looks, I don't think you are quite the one I've brought up." His voice gets high as he says that and that talk sparks the motivation in me. The boost that I needed to assure myself that I can still be in the game.
"I am your daughter, I am still the same Ally that you've raised, father. I just wanted to inform you what I have in mind." His eyes spark at the sound of my words and he sits straight after giving me a 'go ahead' nod.
The nest hour is spent with me telling Dad what I am planning next. I am going to apply for a job at The Hale&Haileys in New York City and once I've settled into the company, I'll slowly start collecting evidences which will help in proving that the signatures were taken when I wasn't really conscious of what I'm doing. Its going to take time, but its going to be worth it. Dad isn't really impressed but that's the only choice we have. And I think if played well, this is the strongest move that can be played from our side.
"But they have their branch in London as well. Plus if you want to prove that the signatures on the papers weren't taken as per your wish, I think its necessary for you to stay here. I'm sure they must have the papers up in our office." He gestures the housekeeper to take away the empty cup.
"I don't think that's going to be beneficial. Because I am sure he must have hid the papers away in his locker." Also, my aim right now aren't really the papers. It is Nathan Hale. And I know he isn't leaving New York. So I'll have to go there.
"I am with you in all that you do." Dad looks at me with a firm nod and I take in a deep breath. I can do this. Look at this man, Ally. You are the daughter of the person who's given birth to one of the greatest business empires of all times. You can't and you won't let him down.
Again.
"Did you check on our creditors?" He asks and I am scared for a moment. All I have been doing since yesterday is crying. I haven't even seen the papers with my signatures on it.
"Umm no. I am heading to the office right now. I plan to meet with Nathan and sort it out." I assure him and he gives me a depreciative smirk.
"Time's up." He glances at his watch and looks back at me. "Hope New York does good to you." He says without any hint of emotions and then gets up to walk out of the room. A tear rolls out of my right eye and falls on my hand that's been sitting on my lap. I blink back the ones that are too eager to make an appearance and look at Mum who's still seated in the same position. When our eyes meet, she looks down and then gets up to follow Dad's lead.
