I stand glued to the floor.
What?!
What?!
WHAT?!
Nathan's father? But he'd told me that his father had...what had he told me?
That his father left them!
His mom and him, he left them. Why, he could never know. All he knew was that he did.
But then why is he back? Now? And does he have anything to do with the 'sale' of my company.
"Get me a coffee." His voice distracts me and I turn my attention back to the scene. Nathan walks towards the cabin, while Mike follows his trail.
My father. His voice rings through my ears as I get in the lift. My reflection stares back at me, asking me to not waste anymore time. That this is the lead that I'd been waiting for. That I must think something immediately and get a hold of this rope before its too late and I fall down in the valley with no hope of seeing the world again.
"One espresso, strong." I place the order and the man gets to work immediately.
"Hey!" A voice greets me and I turn to the face of Luke with his wide dazzling smile on. Why is he always in the cafeteria?
"Hey!" I say back, scratching my fake nose.
"Coffee for boss?" He asks and I nod with pursed lips.
"How exciting!" He jokes and stands beside me, facing me with his back to the counter, as he leans his elbows against the counter.
"Yeah right." I roll my eyes with an extended hand to collect the coffee with a smile.
"Hey, I was wondering if you could join us tonight?" He asks me as I mentally freak out about the consequences if I deliver this coffee cold.
"No. Look, can we talk later? I'm just not free right now." I try to hide my irritated tone but by the frown on his face, I'm not sure I'm doing a good job.
"Oh yes sure! No problem." He smiles and walks back to a table where there were a couple of other people seated. I rush to the lift.
Maybe its time I bring my bed and blankets inside this lift. I am in here all the flipping time!
"Call Ally again." He orders me and I agree without a word.
When I get back to my desk, I dial my number, once, twice, thrice.
And then I walk back inside his cabin.
"Try again." He says.
And so I do, again and again and again.
"Call this number, here." He throws another paper towards me and I pick it up with knit eyebrows. Its my personal number.
With tired feet, I walk out and dial it, knowing the result already. What is it that he wants me to know so desperately?
Maybe I should call him tonight when I get back to the hotel tonight.
Like hell I will.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Its seven in the evening and myself and Lydia are laying across the couch that we just moved to the center of the room. If I thought packing was the hardest part, boy was I wrong!
"Fancy a pizza?" I ask her already dialing the number.
"I ain't got any money on me!" She pulls out the pockets of her sweatpants.
