As always, dedicated to another lovely reader for her supportive feedback. Thank you for the love hun, I appreciate it ❤️
"A chicken salad and Pina Colada, please." Wow, Angelina's got a great combination.
Who would've thought of a chicken salad with Pina Colada for brunch?
"I'll have the Lemon Ricotta pancakes and a cherry infused sparkling water, thank you." The waiter picks up the menu cards with a smile and walks away.
Its a beautiful Sunday morning and we are seated under this large umbrella, outside a posh restaurant for our brunch. Angelina sits opposite to me with her blond hair tossed up in a bun and fringes falling over forehead and that goes along really well with her white sundress covered in pink and blue polka dots. Her face isn't layered with make up and she's kept it minimum and yet it isn't failing her charm. This woman is totally model material.
Oh well. She is.
I have my blue denim shorts on with a white button down shirt tucked in, my hair loose over my shoulders and zero amount of make-up on. What do you expect?
"Sparkling water? Is it too early in the day for you to have a drink?" She narrows her eyes at the sudden breeze which flows by, making the umbrella wiggle in air. Oh dear Lord, I'm not liking this place.
"Something like that." I say with a smile and she nods in acknowledgement. There's no way I am admitting that I should have been an alcohol virgin all my life.
"Its so good to see you, Ally. I know I've said it multiple times but trust me, its just not setting in. The happiness is overwhelming." Her eyes shine and I know she's genuine about it.
But I'm still so skeptical, I mean we're talking about Angelina Clarke here.
"I know. I've longed for a nice chat with a good old friends since so long." Have I really?
"Right? That's what I mean, I have no friends and having a job like this isn't the best place to have no friends but you can't blame me. They're all the biggest arses and its only for the camera and the tumblr 'goals' posts. But there's not one person I can count on of all the people in my contacts." She supports her chin on her hand as her elbow rests on the table and I am surprised by her words.
"I'm kinda on the same page. It has come to the point where I can't trust my own family for goodness' sake!"
"Yes! Sometimes I feel like its the family who does more harm than anyone else, maybe because they know exactly where to poke?" Her eyes tell she's reached in a far away world, a world which explains the whole ordeal she's talking about.
"Let's not talk about it. It brings bad memories." I laugh a weak laugh and she leans back in her chair, shaking her head a little.
"Lemon ricotta pancakes, chicken salad, cherry infused sparkling water and pina colada. Enjoy your meal." The waitress disappears as quickly as she'd appeared. Myself and Angelina share a glance and giggle.
"That was fast!" She raises an eyebrow, eying the table.
Angelina moves her bowl of salad closer to herself and I do the same with my pancakes. Ah, this smells so good.
"I can't tell you how jealous I am! I'm so digging a pancake right now, but I've got a shoot to do in exactly two hours." For a second, I feel bad for her but then I'm good because we've all got something bad about our jobs.
Unfortunately, hers is not getting to eat all the good food.
"I think you should go for it, life's too short." I say without looking away from my food and dig in with my fork.
