"Don't worry Marc, It's just for two weeks." I said, giving my best buddy a tight hug. "We'll be back before you know it."

"Does it have to be the entire holidays?" Marc said glumly. "We're not going to be able to chill, are we?"

"I don't know." I replied uselessly.

I let go of him. "Don't forget about me while I'm gone." I said, poking my tongue out playfully.

"What sort of a friend would I be if l let that happen?!" He said in fake horror.

We chuckled a little.

"Clamshell...what in the name...Of...Lady Liberty...Did you put...in this suitcase?!" Uncle Al puffed, as he heaved my suitcase in the car.

"A dead body, bricks, and heavy armoury." I said bluntly, with a hint of sarcasm.

"Well then. That escalated quickly." Uncle Al said, just as bluntly.

"Oh, yeah." I said as I jumped into the car. "I don't know if I told you, but I- uh, we- found some paper's in Rayna's room." I continued as Uncle Al started the car.

"And..." Marc replied.

"I think I'm adopted." Then we drove off.

From down the street, I heard Marc yell "WHAT?!"

I smiled. "Always leave them guessing."

"I'm glad you told Marc. I don't want my niece thinking she has to go through this shit alone." My uncle said, keeping his eyes on the road.

I nodded. I wasn't sure he saw.

"Your not thinking of avenging your mother are you? I mean sure, you may think the law system in the US is a bit...yeah...But that doesn't mean you can go around killing people!" Uncle Al said with absolute seriousness.

Usually, he isn't this serious. I've never heard him speak like that before. It was like he knew what I was thinking, which he probably did.

He knows I have a strong belief in justice.

"Yes uncle." I said, though inside, I was planning the murder of my mother's murderer already.

I'm going to make it look like a complete and total accident.

Somehow.

Oh well.
