Sabrina's POV 💛

I swung open my mom's car door and plopped down on the front seat, swinging my book bag in between my legs.

"Sabrina, tell that little nappy headed ass boyfriend of yours to stop holding you up everyday, you know my show come on around this time." My Mom said, pushing her aviator sunglasses up to her brown hair.

My family was rich. Some people hate me just because I didn't grow up in the hood or never had to heat my house with the oven before. I get called "silver spooned" quite often just because my parents can afford everything I need and want. But just because that is so, doesn't mean I don't work or earn what I have.

I'm 18 and I've been wanting a car since I turned 15. You think my parents could afford it? Hell yeah. My mother and father both make 6 figures. But to this day I still don't have my own car, why? Because they want me to be able to keep gas in it and wash it and get the oil changed and do this and do that. They agreed to buy my car, but refused to do all the work it takes to keep it. And with the small paying job I have, I ain't gone be able to do it. That's why I'm saving up and looking for a better job.

"Mom," I rolled my eyes. "I told you that's not my boyfriend. Devin and I are just tight like that."

She smirked and put the car in reverse to back out the lot. "Mhmm. I see the way you be smiling when you get around him."

I lifted my hands and slammed them back into my thighs in confusion. "He's funny! No one wants to be around a person who doesn't smile mother."

"Whatever, I'll let it go. How was school?" One of her hands tightly grabbed the steering wheel, showing off her seven karat wedding ring and diamond bracelet my dad gave her.

"Ugh."

She knew what that meant, didn't even have to ask. She knows I just want to be done with school and I just can't wait until I am so I won't have to come back and see all these bastards at 8:00am. I just want to be a singer, and knowing about the Cold War and how to subtract the fourth root of two by the fifth root of two isn't gonna get me where I wanna be. But I still get work done just so I can graduate with a respectable GPA and be done.
