Sabrina 💛"So what if they want you to go to stupid Virginia Tech, you're grown, you go where you wanna go."
Devin's mom loved me. She said I was beautiful and always keep myself looking nice unlike other girls he used to bring around. But she was entirely too full of herself. She's had a tight leash around Devin for too many years now, and he needs to put his foot down. He's 18 years old.
I lied on my back on my sofa with my legs on top of his lap, with his hands casually caressing and massaging my shins.
"But they're paying, Sabrina. If I don't go where they want me to go, then I can't go at all. And that means no pros!" He shook his head in disappointment.
I sat up. "Wait a minute, I thought you said Akron U was offering you a full ride scholarship?"
"They are."
"So what's the problem? You don't have to worry about them paying for nothing!"
I wanted him to got to Akron U so bad. Virginia Tech is just too far. Since we just started dating, I don't want it to end no time soon, hell I don't ever want it to end. I finally got the man I want and I'm not letting him go.
"When I say my parents are not playing about me going to V-tech, I'm deadass serious. If I chose to go against them and go to Akron they'd take everything I got and make me buy it on my own. So I'd have no car, no bed, no clothes or food. I'm better off just doing what they say."
I grabbed his hand. "They'll never wrap their mind around the fact that you're a grown man now until you start acting like it. You need to put your foot down, and do what you believe is best for you. Make your own choices. They'll realized that you're not a little boy anymore. And if I gotta go out here and start you a fundraiser to send you to the college of your choice, then that's what I'll do!"
He smiled and rubbed his thumb on the back of my palm. "You something special girl."
I went in for a quick kiss since his lips were looking so heavenly right in front of me. I gazed into his eyes for seconds, then got back to the topic. "So, is Akron U where you're going or are you gonna allow your parents to continue to run your life?"
He sighed and showed his frustration. I know his mom is what's driving him crazy, but of course I'll help and do all that I can to get him to the school that he likes. "Yeah, I'll go."
I hugged and squeezed him tight. "Yay! I knew you wouldn't leave me!"
I felt and heard him laugh in the crook of my neck while I was in mid-hug.
"Ohhh, so that what this is really about. You just was me close to home."I struggled to hide my smile as I played with my fingers. "Partially."
"Mhm. That's the main reason, you ain't gotta lie."
He pulled me in for a tight squeeze. "Awww, little Sabrina was gonna miss me."
I guess I'll admit it. "Okay fine, yes I was going to miss you." I chuckled. "I mean, I'm still gonna miss you even if you're in Akron so."
"Sounds like you're not planning for college." He said while relaxing back into the soft cushions of the sofa.
I shook my head. "Nope. What for? I just wanna be a singer, and college is just going to get in the way of that."
He shrugged, "college ain't for everyone. But you should at least go so that you can have a backup plan."
I made a stank face that had him in confusion. "To me, having a backup plan in life is basically preparing for failure. Let me tell you something, I AM going to be a SUCCESSFUL singer slash entertainer slash vocalist okay? Nothing else makes me happier and I know that singing is what I was put on earth to do!" I folded my arms and twisted my head up high, feeling completely proud of my speech.
